Comedian George Carlin dies at 71 | Reuters

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.
This is a damn shame. I loved watching George Carlin, his stand up is amongst my favorites because he never had any boundaries. It sucks now that he's gone. R.I.P. George Carlin.

Re: R.I.P. George Carlin

Was lucky enough to see him live one time, well into his career once his reputation had already been solidly entrenched, and he still managed to have half the audience leaving in horror. A true legend and innovator.

I just watched half of Jay and Silent Bob on Saturday night and Carlin's part had me cracking up again even though I've seen that movie a couple of times.

There aren't many people out there as clever with wordplay has George Carlin was. He really was a great comic and he will be missed.

Re: R.I.P. George Carlin

I saw this on the news this morning. That man was one of the Greatest Comedians I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. I never got to see him live but never missed him on HBO. I sometimes ask myself how in the hell Carlin got duped into taking the role of Rufus on Bill and Ted but he's still George F'n Carlin ! The world has lost a true comedian today, a true artist. He wasn't just shocking just to be, there was substance behind his words.

Re: R.I.P. George Carlin

A lot of significant people in media/entertainment have passed away lately. Bo Diddley, Tim Russert, George Carlin, Sydney Pollack, Jim McKay all in the past month. And I think there was one more but I forget....

RIP George Carlin.
