I think I've said it before around here, I have a visceral rage type reaction when I see people getting hurt who don't deserve it. Unless I saw a weapon on him. But if I didn't, I'm taking my chances. If the guy beats my ass until the cops arrive at least it's not a poor little kid. Pain is temporary, death is not. Maybe the witnesses were elderly or female? (I didn't read the article)

I can only imagine the pure shock of seeing something like this going down right in front of you. I'd like to think I would do something... but I can certainly understand people being frozen from the absolute shock of it.
