Best Friday Night Dinner
It's Friday at 5pm, or whenever you get off work, and you're ready for the weekend. You want to start the weekend off right, so what's your go-to dinner on a Friday night?
Being in Philadelphia, mine is typically a footlong cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms, with about 12 buffalo wings on the side, washed down with a cold one (usually Moosehead or Moslen Canadian go great here). Go ahead, make me hungry. What's for dinner on a Friday night?

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
I usually have sushi on Fridays from my favorite bar. A spicy tuna roll and yellowtail negiri is my "bread and butter". If I'm feeling in the mood for something different, then I go for a thick steak or tilapia.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
Since it's Lent, and I'm Catholic, the last few Fridays have been seafood. We'll have sushi one night, or baked flounder stuffed with crabmeat over rice, or crab cakes.
However, the go-to meal for Friday night...Pizza. There's a mom & pop place around the corner that serves a decent NY Style pizza, so that's always good to go. The wife will call it in, and I'll pick it up on my way home.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
Spicy Tuna is good to go. There is a place we go to here in Frederick that has what they call Maryland roll. It has crabmeat with old bay in it. Definitely one of my faves. And while not traditional, there is always the dynamite roll.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
I seemed to have timed this thread well with lent, LOL. Pretend it's next Friday night, when you're fine to eat whatever.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
Yeah, the dynamite is dy-no-miiiite! Here in Florida we have the "Florida roll" ... go figure. It has crab meat just like the Maryland roll, but I doubt it is Chesapeake blue (also no old bay). It's pretty good, but I like them all really. I'm a big fan of old bay, so I'll have to try the Maryland roll next time I'm in MD.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
I start dinner with several Vodka and Tonics or what ever sounds good. The wife thinks it takes an hour to get the grill going. After a few more V&T's anything tast good. Last weekend a friend came over and I lost track of grilling time and the chicken got a little dry. Good thing the wife had a few glasses of wine because with a little more extra BBQ sauce you could hardly tell. Tonight its grilled hot wings as I watch the last couple hours of the Masters. I'm leaving work so you guys have fun. God its nice to be self employed.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
Pizza or mexican is my ideal Friday night, washed down with a couple of pints of Guinness.
But since I like to hit the gym on Friday nights I'll usually skip the Guinness at dinner and have them later on, but then of course 2 beers turns into 4 or 5 or 12. |

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
When I was single, beer (tap, can, bottle, etc) used to be my dinner of choice on Fridays with maybe some form of restaurant appetizer.
Now that I'm married with a kid, I guess it's some place like Olive Garden on Fridays.

Re: Best Friday Night Dinner
schneed, i think i was over your way last weekend. i was in a little pizza joint in manyunk(sp?) that had out of this world cheese steaks. and for me to say that is alot because i think Philly cheese steaks are almost as over rated as Michael Vick. i have already eaten at both Pat's and Geno's, and think they both suck

There's a place in Gaithersburg at 28 and 124 called New Tokyo (2 doors down from Fuddruckers) that has incredible sushi. Traditional pieces along with some awesome intrepretations (I highly suggest the Hawaiian Volcano Roll).
