Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread

Latest reports sound like the rain will hold off. Unfortunately that means better field conditions for the Falcons duo, and harder for our secondary to have any chance of slowing them down.

For me the keys to the game include winning the turnover battle, playing aggressively (not accepting long fg tries, going on 4th at some points in the game, etc), and 3rd down conversions.

Both teams are good at protecting the ball, and both have scored from their defense. I see this as a place where Griffin will make the big difference. As long as he doesn't fumble, he has shown he doesn't make many bad reads. I do worry about a Mike Nolan schemed defense so Griffin needs to bring his best today.

Ultimately, as in the prediction thread, I see this as a game where the last team with the ball, wins the game.

Seems that everyone is expecting the Falcons to roll the Redskins easily.

Which makes it even better. They seem to play better when everyone counts them out.

We'll put up points. Gonna have to win in shoot-out style.

Nobody thought we could win week 1 either.

I don't really understand that. Atlanta is good, very good, but they gave up a lot of points to both KC and Carolina, so I think we ought to be able to keep up. The problem as everyone knows, is that our defense needs to show that they aren't just a sieve.

every year there are surprise victories... this is going to have to be one of those if we want to be 3-2 on monday. it can happen, but i wouldn't put money on the skins this week.

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread

Here's what I'm hoping the Redskins do:

Robert Griffin III passes for at least 250 yards and runs for 125 more.

Alfred Morris rushes for 120 yards and a couple of TDs

Pierre Garcon gets back on track with at least 7 catches for over 100 yards.

That the offensive line pass protects well and run blocks well.

Ryan Kerrigan sacks Matt Ryan 3 or 4 times today.

DeAngelo can prove he's worth a damn in coverage.

That the Defensive line gets some penetration and record a couple of sacks.

If all of that happens I see no way we could lose.

Re: Falcons @ Redskins Gameday Thread

This game is going to staple us and be the cornerstone for whete the Shannys are going with the Redskins. We are at home and its been rough at fed ex lately, but now we have that franchise QB, and RB. We have key players on defense.. Today is the day for all Redskin fans to hopefully obtain what weve been asking for a decade now........

A future

Wet Field= Advantage to the running game, disadvantage to Receiving game..

I really don't see the rain hurting the passing game much.

It hurts the secondary more than the receivers so maybe that puts us on a more level playing field given our secondary woes already. The great equalizer we are looking for???
