Government shutdown 2018

Any thoughts?

Personally I’m kinda ticked about the idea of having to work without knowing when I’ll get paid again.

Too bad Congress doesn’t have to deal with the same problem.

Care more about illegal immigrants than govt workers, military and programs that help everyday American citizens? Ask yourself what is right

I had put this in the Media bias thread . Shepard Smith is good, surprised he is at FOX.

I have two daughters both going through the same thing. Both married to military men, what do they do?

Government shutdown 2018

It is the only time there’s been a shutdown when the same party controls both houses of Congress and the White House. Ever.

And the same argument Chico makes about immigration can be made about the last shutdown initiated by the GOP over the ACA.

The reality is that congress should be working on long term spending instead of stopgaps, which has been a problem for years. But kicking the can down the road has become far too politically expedient. And the only folks who purport to benefit from that are the elected officials anxious to keep their jobs.

And that’s a bipartisan criticism.

I do not disagree with you but if I remember correctly in 2013 Obama excluded the Military from the shut down, they got paid.

I believe that’s correct. Another difference to this one worth noting.

Re: Government shutdown 2018

That sucks Matty, for yours and other gov't workers sake I hope they get it running back up soon. Meanwhile, I'm trying to look at the positives, like the fact Trump is single-handedly saving taxpayers ~roughly~ 3.6 mil by not going to Mar-A-Lago this weekend. That's one victory I'm willing to give Trump all the credit for.

I didn't even realize the military isn't getting paid. Well we can't fault Trump for that, it's only his first shutdown. He'll remember it for next time it happens.

Yeah I know, it was sarcasm. Apologies for the tone not translating. Can't believe there isn't one person in his administration that couldn't say "hey maybe you should exempt the military from not getting paid. Y'know, that whole 'defending our lives' thing and all."
