You would bet your future on a player kareem moore that has never started an NFL game at any position? Are you Vinny Ceratto?

If I were to guess, I'd say... Rogers: Not a serious candidate to be traded unless they are blown away by a ridiculous offer. I think this is more a case of "how valuable is this guy?" Moss: Most likely to be traded Golston: If someone else offers him a better deal in the RFA market, they won't work too hard to keep him Horton: Not going anywhere Betts: His value is continuing to decline, so the Redskins need to decide if they are truly committed to making him part of the team or are there teams out there (Colts, Chargers?) that may be interested.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
No, i wouldnt bet my future on him - i'd have springs back there as well. However Landry is being "wasted" at FS and i dont beleive Horton or Landry will ever realize their full potential as long as both of them are on the team. If the skins did trade Horton for a 2nd rounder, they could use that second rounder on a DT who would hopefully start from day 1. If we have a front 4 that can put pressure on the QB, we would be more than fine with Rogers and Hall at CB, Landry at SS, and Springs/Moore/Green at FS.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
We definitely over-achieved in our first 8 games. The skins were never as good as some fans thought they were. They were then what they are now - a mediocre team. Unfortunately, we are a mediocre team that, as you pointed out, is regressing. To turn the team around we need to forget about the present (to an extent) and make some sacrifices that will help this team in the long-term.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
It's a good thing that we have all of these good players in the secondary. Just remember that one of these guys is just an injury away from being a starter regardless. I say keep the dept there if we can. If we can keep Springs and Smoot on the cheap keep them too.
I wish we could say that abou the lines. Nobody is going to give us anything for our O or D line guys. I'm for trading Moss and Betts as long as it's a damn good deal. If not we've not really lost anything. If they hadn't signed CP to such a big deal then he'd be trade material too. |

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
I think the main point that some are missing is that, while I believe all of those trades are possibilities, there is a zero percent chance that every one of those five players gets traded. It's not a fire sale here. One, maybe two trades at most. There's got to be a player market, and just because the Skins are shopping them does not at all mean that they'll get what their asking for. In fact, you usually ask for something that no one plans to give you, so that in the case a desperate team bites, you win the trade easily.
Horton played really, really poorly against the pass down the stretch. He's almost as bad as Doughty against it. Unlike Doughty, he's a poor pass rusher. Where Horton makes up for that all is his unbelievable closing speed against the run. Teams really started taking advantage of him in the play action game, because he bites so badly on run fakes, and his guy tends to be wide open. I mean, let's face it, a second rounder for one of the last picks in the draft last year is a HUGE steal. You don't even think about it. Is anyone that desperate to get a safety who cannot cover? Highly doubt it. Horton will be back, and likely in the starting lineup next year, but he's got a lot to work on in the off-season.

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
I think Dan and Vinny both need to buy a "Guide to Financial Independence" book. lol.
Man, we might release one or two guys, but don't expect too much b/c we still need the depth. I could see Springs being the high priced guy to get released and we'd resign hall. We might also cut one of the DL since we survived w/o 2 of them being injured last year. But if we really need draft picks...cause even though CP is a beast, he is WAY over paid as a RB, especially on a team that is trying to go to a WCO, so we will need to start looking at RBs next year |

PS, we need to STOP restructuring old head's contracts...that's part of the reason we're in cap hell right now!

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2009
We're not in cap hell, we're over by just $2M for 2009 but we can easily clean that up quite quickly. The problem with restructuring is we're marrying ourselves to older players who are no longer as productive as their cap figures would indicate.
