Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

The Washington Football Team has had “multiple conversations” with the Philadelphia Eagles today regarding Carson Wentz, per

I don't love idea of trading the farm, but love the thoroughness.

It isn't apples to apples. He is 5 months into a new deal. Did he look around at racist ownership and the O'Brien era and see some model of functional behavior? He could have gone the Cousins route, held out for free agency, instead he inked a new deal. It is unconscionable to demand a trade just 5 months into a new $150M+ deal.

On Saturday evening, 97.5 The Fanatic’s Natalie Egenolf shared what she’s hearing:

Name I’m hearing is Tarik Cohen, a first rounder and yes world, Nick Foles. https://t.co/dEsK5N8oV8
— Natalie Egenolf (@NatalieEgenolf) February 7, 2021

Then Howard Eskin jumped in with the following:

Rumors all over tonight on #Eagles trade of QB Carson Wentz. Here’s what I’m told. Wentz and a draft pick to #Bears for number 1 draft pick, QB Nick Foles, and RB Tarik Cohen who is coming off ACL injury but should be ready in September. @SportsRadioWIP
— Howard Eskin (@howardeskin) February 7, 2021

But then Tarik Cohen seemed to deny he’s going anywhere!

Lemme clear this up real quick . Just got off the phone wit my HC and GM , bears fans we locked in don’t worry . people say anything nowadays man .

So, who knows what’s truly going on here.

For discussion’s sake, let’s say the Eagles are trading Wentz and a pick for Cohen, Nick Foles, and a first-round pick. How do you feel about that offer?

The first thought that jumps to my mind is: what is that pick that Eagles are sending back to Chicago? I saw something about how Philly might be dealing their 2021 second-round selection to the Bears, essentially moving the Eagles up from No. 37 to No. 20. If that’s true, that value is only worth the equivalent of a late second-round pick. Not an ideal return for Wentz. But, hey, maybe that’s not the scenario the Eagles would be in. Maybe they won’t have to return a pick that high.

Normally when a player says "I just talked to my coach and GM and they told me Im not being traded" = youre being traded.

I imagine Bears fans arent happy but Wentz is an enigma. To me he looked slow processing things, i fan speculate he seems to still be dealing with that concussion from the playoffs last year.
Good stuff, thanks for it.

Yep, I like that they KNOW what we NEED and are going to try everything to get a QB

From reliable sources like JP that sounds like fake news, probably just Philly trying to spice up the market because no one wants to give them the ridiculous amount they want

I see that Dak followed washington on IG...... for a while at least, Dallas aren't going to let him leave but it made me laugh. That relationship is breaking down after he singed a sponsorship deal with a rival to Dallas sponsor

I always wonder what the ratio of truth to made up on the spot nonsense is when the off season approaches. With little else to write about, I swear some (all?) outlets come up with stories that are just to keep them busy. "A trusted source" could literally be anyone!

One rumor that is true is this team is aggressively searching for a QB

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

The Eagles asking price, according to one team source, was ridiculous, laughable, and not worth countering. Until they lower their expectations, based on the uncertainty of the player and contract, their initial price will never be obtained.

I would have been ok if they landed Stafford with their reported offer, and I'm glad they at least to appear to be interested in finding out what it would take to pry Watson away from the Texans (although I don't see that happening).

I think it's pretty clear though, that you are going to have to overpay for a QB this offseason, whether through free agency or a trade. The demand is just too high. Some QBs are worth overpaying for (i.e. Watson), while some are not (i.e. Wentz, Darnold...).

I hope they stick with their "measured approach" they were talking about in the Martin and Marty press conference.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021

Jim Nagy on Keim's podcast talking about Jones

"Very smart, quick with the ball and accurate. He's a pocket passer 100%"

I wonder if we would take him at 19?

I really don't want Darnold... He had a bad team but he was also very bad. He's a TO machine.
