KI, I think you’re spot on about CB. I wanted us to sign Gilmore, or a vet CB this offseason even if it was for 1 year. I saw CB as our biggest weakness, and I felt we needed to address it in FA, or the draft. Forbes was a terrible pick, then and now (as someone else mentioned) being taken ahead of the consensus #1 CB Gonzalez was negligent malpractice. Concern is warranted; our starting LCB and RCB are below average.

Gonzales has everything you could want in a CB. He was a consensus Top 10 pick. Before the draft, I and many other Commanders fans said that it would be a no-brainer to pick Gonzales if he fell to us, and it was.

Meanwhile, RR fell in love with a 165 pound CB with a very slight frame. Forbes was unlikely to hold up in the NFL from the beginning.

I just can't bring myself to lighten up on RR when it comes to his drafting record. He was a terrible GM.
I was talking about the position where EF was drafted. That wasn't really egregious when you compare that to where most draft analysts had him going.

I agree that we should have taken Gonzales instead. That was not a good decision, which I alluded to.

The pass he completed to Brown for around 40 yds was perfect. Excited about his deep ball and instincts on when to throw it. I'd like to see him play a little more this weekend v. Miami.

Me too, it was a beauty.

Only thing that bothers me a little is word that he checked out of a screen pass. Quinn sounded a bit on the fence about his freelancing. On the one hand it was the right call and an excellent play. On the other he hadn't been given free reign to audible.

So, yes you want a guy who can see that opportunity and exploit it. But you don't want a guy that's going to wind up the coaches doing his own thing too often. I'm hoping this is purely a sign that he's trying to show them what he can do and they're happy to carry on as is. I'm hoping its not a sign he's a prima donna.

While I can understand your thoughts I think this may be kind of a one off in regards to audible. Me thinks he wasn't given the approval because we are so early in the process and they wanted to keep it simple. Once the season starts he may well be given the OK to audible, in fact I'd expect it.

But yeah if it's a bigger picture problem of the player constantly overruling the coaching staff yeah that could be an issue.

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024

D2D - Daniels to Dyami. They are building some chemistry. It started on the practice field and it carried over into the game with his first completion.

B Sinnott gave us a glimpse of what he brings to the table too.

Running game looked solid with three O-linemen out.

I don't think there were any NYJ starters out there though so I can't get too excited about all that, but it could have been worse.

Apparently, we still don't have a kicker...

Re: Commanders Training Camp 2024

We just signed Martavis Bryant to the roster. Yes, that same WR from Steelers. Kinda surprised by this since we don't have a huge need in WR, wouldn't be surprised if we release him before week 1 tho.

If it was a big deal I don’t think DQ would have joked around about it the way he did
