I was under the impression that you meant that we had started to expect LL to be a top tier strong safety in the same way we saw ST become a top tier free safety in the first half of the 07 season. Not, do we expect LL to become the next ST.

If the first instance is the case, then yes, it's fair to say that at this point in his career I expected LL to start fulfilling all his potential talent. He had a great first half of the season last year which I expected to carry over to this year once he got healthy again. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. LL has all the talent, but it doesn't seem like he has the right mentality in how to approach the game.

He needs to hit that film room and start analyzing everything, from the way he plays the game, to the miscues he has, to the way Troy P. plays the game. Shit, consult Troy P. up if need be. Get inside his mind, and pick his brain. For whatever reason I feel like we have just seen LL expect his physical talent to translate to success on the field, and he's not working that hard on the mental aspect of it.

If Landry spent half as much time in film study as he reportedly does honing his physique, then he might make that leap to elite strong safety.

No but trading Laron and Rocky would be. It would help the salary cap and the team. Unless we just keep Rocky to just rush the QB on 3rd down if we have the luxury.

Both contracts are up at end of season so trade possibility, like most trade scenarios in this league, is not happening. We are not bring back Rocky, hes horrible. Laron is a solid player, hopefully he will be back under a reasonable contract, because I expect a lot of spending on the offensive side if ball in the offseason.

I sure hope they get some OL. Barrett Jones from Alabama would be a great draft pick to get one of those lineman that we can't get in FA. We need 4 with the ones we got other than Trent as solid backups. Not sold on Laron. Better trade value than ballplayer so far. It would be nice to see him play much better.

Something's been wrong w/this defense the last couple weeks, I wonder if he's part of the problem.

He is great at making big hits, but if you watch him take on blockers he usually takes himself out of the play. His coverage issues have been talked about by us quite a bit.

Is Laron our present day Lavar? A big hitter but undisciplined? Is he a Shanahan guy? I'm actually wondering if the staff feels he's worth investing in beyond his current deal.
At least Lavar made 3 pro bowls and made some plays to help us win. What exactly has Laron done in the regard. He has some moments like in the Green Bay game last year where you think that he is a pro bowl elite player and then he does things like celebrating and after an offensive player makes a first down. He doesn't seem to get it. Lavar at least had produced.
