Re: Around the NFL week 17
While the Cowboys winning has probably done us a favour because they'll likely be playing to win next week (and thus we have a chance of finishing with the #3 or even 2 pick), it's galling to see them win due to bad (if not atrocious) officiating.
The NFL needs to address this soon. Why, in 2024, they don't employ full time officials is beyond me. Rugby Union is the best example of standards, but even looking at English football alone, where there can be in excess of 60 professionally officiated matches per week, there are relatively few controversies. And English football doesn't have the full set of replay tools and views the NFL does (pylon cameras, sky cam, c. 20 manned cameras). The NFL seems to have had at least 2-3 serious issues per week this season, and standards seem to be getting worse not better. and its not like the NFL can't afford it. |

Re: Around the NFL week 17
How about just saying Refs are human and on the take....😳😀. Seriously there is no reason for that to have happened... if that was NFC championship ?? The LEAGUE has to get this right .. my question is it shows the ref telling Dallas something.. What was that ?? It stinks

Looks like the ref assumed it was just #70, only heard him and not #68? Maybe #68 needed to be sure the ref heard him? He'll probably tell you that. Either way, it wasn't a good look. |

Re: Around the NFL week 17
Watching the Skycam outtake on various sites, #70 was the last of 3 linemen to go speak to the ref before teh play. And he visibly engages with the other 2. And there's video of #70 saying quite 'adamantly' that he didn't say anything to the ref. Post game interview with #68 too, emphasising he DID tell him he was reporting in as eligible. I'm not sure the refs actions were deliberate, he may well have told the Cowboy sit was #70 by mistake, but its clearly a level of incompetence. And normally they announce across the PA if a player is reporting as eligible which didn't happen here. 🤔
