Instead of forgiving debt the focus should be making college more affordable. Also the endowment of these institutions should be targeted in how this is achieved.

Hard to know all their reasons, but here is a response from one:

"Giving the FDA millions of dollars is not going to produce one ounce of baby formula. Getting the FDA out of the way would accomplish that new production. The lengthy and heavy-handed complete shutdown and subsequent investigation of the Sturgis, Michigan Abbott facility in mid-February by the Biden FDA found no deadly bacteria in their products. There was no easing of restrictions by the FDA, there was no reopening plan from the FDA and not even an apparent awareness of the consequences of their actions until there was a critical shortage of formula available to America’s mothers who were unable to feed their infants.

President Biden and his masses of bureaucrats have done nothing for months to alleviate or mitigate the problem, but now want the Democrats in Congress to throw more money at their bureaucratic friends out of a desire to, as Democrats have said before, avoid letting 'a good crisis go to waste.’ Creating a bigger deficit and increasing inflation, while using even more money to create bigger, more dysfunctional government is not a solution, no matter how attractive that may sound to some in the media.

The FDA got us into this mess and they cannot get us out of it. Enabling Abbott to reopen its facility swiftly and removing burdensome government restrictions and regulations from safe baby formula from overseas would be a more efficient solution.”

I would not be opposed to assistance on a case-by-case basis, but I wouldn't support a blank check to just wipe it all away. Some can actually afford to pay it off, and they should. My wife and I paid off her student loans. It sucked, but she knew she was getting a loan and would eventually have to pay it off once she got a job. And she (we) did. I understand that there are probably cases where families or individuals really struggle with it, and maybe those are the ones that need help.

But if you do just forgive all student loan debt - for everyone - then what is the plan moving forward? I honestly don't know much about any of the proposed plans, so I'm asking. I would think we need to come up with a plan to make sure people don't get into this predicament in the future. Chico's suggestion to make college more affordable is a start. It's gotten way out of hand.

Limited government, the Constitution (and specifically the 10th amendment), and lower taxes.

See, this is the problem with trump republicans there is no give and take just their side. . I am for smaller government, I believe in the 2nd amendment but stopping shoot outs in the streets is not going against the second amendment, and I am against abortion but for a Women's right to chose. I am for "fair taxes" I've said before I'm for a flat tax for all and Amazon and Walmart etc need to pay their share. Pretty un American of me I know.
