Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

If they were that good then there would be no question as to them making the playoffs, and Sidney would have better stats if he didn't get injured. The caps may be getting hot right now but not to worry Crosby and the very underrated Evgeni Malkin will put the Flyers or maybe the caps in their place and send them packing. Here me now and believe me later, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS YOUR 2008 STANLY CUP CHAMPS!!!

Not sure why you think anyone thinks Evgeni Malkin is very underrated...he's 2nd in points behind Ovie. And as far as Crosby goes and his better stats if he didn't get injured...if your Grandma had balls, she'd be your Grandpa. Can't base anything on what if's, especially how many points some punk kid from Nova Scotia is going to score IF he stays healthy.

Not sure I'd want to face the Caps right now, the way they're playing hockey. They are on point, and it's a shame that they couldn't do this from the start of the season. Should be some great matchups in the playoffs once the dust settles.

Pittsburgh started the season out a bit shakey also but yet they still won their divison. CAN'T BASE ANYTHING ON WOULDA COULDA SHOULDA'S, fact is the Caps are just getting lucky as the season is coming to a close. And besides that they are in a weak division. Not to worry the Caps will be sitting at home watching the Pens dominate the playoffs...

Lucky? C'mon man. Even if you're not a fan of the team, it seems pretty ridiculous to say they're just "lucky"

Are you talking about the same weak division that's won two out of the last three Stanley Cups (and been in three of the last five)?

ZING! Great point.

We've won 9 outta 10 and we're 35-17 since Boudreau took over as HC. 35-17 is a significant stretch making up just about 2/3 of the season. Luck my ass. Not to mention since we traded for Huet, Federov, and Cooke, we've been playing lights out hockey.

No way this is luck. On the contrary actually. I'd say the first month of the season was a fluke. The Capitals since firing Hanlon hiring Boudreau are the real Capitals.

Also, WHEN we make the playoffs we'll be the first team ever to be in 14th place at any point in the regular season and still make it to postseason play.

GO CAPS!

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

Not sure how playing hockey at a .600 clip since Thanksgiving is considered lucky...

Since February 1, the Caps are 17-7-3, which is about the same level that the Pens have played at (18-7-4). They have 2 quality goaltenders with playoff experience to run the gauntlet, and they have this season's best player (if not the best player in the league). This is going to be one tough hombre once they make the playoffs...

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

Nothing to worry about the weither it be the Flyers or the Caps, the Pens will dominate in the first round.

I am talking about the weak division that has 2 teams under .500, 1 team just above .500, and only 2 teams with 90 points or more. Unlike the very difficult Atlantic Division where 4 out of the 5 teams are above .500 and well over 90 points. GO PENS!!!

Ok, I am not a pens fan at all (note the Bruins comment), nor do I care about the Caps, however, didn't the Pens do almost the same as the caps but without their SUPERSTUD Crosby?

True dat!!! And that is from a Bruins fan. So, that just goes to support my logic that now that the PENS have their SUPERSTUD SID THE KID back along with the underrated Evgeni Malkin the PENS will dominate the playoffs. All I know is that if I was a NHL team thinking about getting in to the playoffs, I wouldn't want to play the PENS!!! GO PENS!!!
