That's easy to say, but they are working their way towards a pick between 19-32. Obviously there will be QBs available there, but are any of them going to be worthy of that pick? Maybe RR isn't interested in any QBs after the top 4-5 are gone. Maybe Haskins gets another shot? We'll all just have to see how this thing shakes out, but as a fan base we need to be prepared to see Smith at the helm for another year, and if he manages to take this team to the playoffs and is healthy next year, why not?

Mac Jones. I don't know how it is possible to be under-rated as the QB of the number 1 team in the nation, with the historic kind of season he is having, but that's what is happening. Getting him at #19 would be striking gold, IMO.

It would serve Jones well to watch Alex Smith for a season, just as it did Mahomes.

Just a small sample, but watching the highlights of the Georgia game a couple of things struck me:

Accurate
Quick getting the ball out
Great touch on the long pass
Strong arm but good judge of when to take the heat off the throw.

But a few throws were under thrown and/or into traffic. That hook could easily be a pick 6 in the NFL.

I agree he should be on our board, and that he would definitely benefit from a year sitting behind/working with Smith.

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread

Given where we are now and possibly going to pick in the lower half of round 1, would it be a reach picking at tier 2 QB there (Jones, Lance etc.), or better to go BPA and chance a good QB falling to us in a later round? Odds are the best QBs go early but as we know there have been sleepers like Wilson. Is it really worth the risk of Haskins MkII rather than finding out the talent elsewhere like MLB?

The Alex Smith is still our QB draft. Didn't get a QB but offense would be way more loaded.

19: R1 P19 TE Kyle Pitts - Florida
51: R2 P19 OT Christian Darrisaw - Virginia Tech
76: R3 P12 WR Terrace Marshall Jr. - LSU
82: R3 P18 S Paris Ford - Pittsburgh
121: R4 P19 LB Nick Bolton - Missouri
160: R5 P19 OT Dillon Radunz - North Dakota State
239: R7 P17 CB Chase Lucas - Arizona State
241: R7 P19 TE Cary Angeline - NC State

No chance Pitts falls to 19, he's got Kelce like potential. Good mock tho

At least sign a Vet QB in case we can’t land the player we want in the Draft ...we need OL , Wr , mlb , K .. damn if only Haskins would be the franchise QB ...

Hell Kelce was a third rounder. Let us dream of Pitts running down that seam sky jumping over LBs and S.

Zach Wilson has made a Burrow like leap this yr, that kid is a baller and may be the #2 pick

Why not? Because this year everything has fallen into place... easy schedule, injuries to starting QB's. May not be the case next year if we are to win the division. You just can not count on a QB playing on half a leg in his late 30's.

As hard as it would be I would ask Alex to retire so a tough decision isn't made for him. No way in hell is Haskins coming back. I bring back Allen, I draft someone and I bring in a vet.

We are not the only ones salivating for Wilson.

If the Jets get the second pick they should jump all over him. If for some reason he’s available at #3 I would offer our 1st, 3rd and as much as I love Matt I. Or Tim Settle.
