Blago guilty on one count: Lying to the FBI - Chicago Breaking News
Mistrial on 23/24 counts, this is the only one that stuck at this point...lying.

Re: Illinois Governor Arrested on Corruption Charges
It's good that he will at least do some time. I hope the judge gives him the max.

Re: Illinois Governor Arrested on Corruption Charges
Seems to me if you find that he was lying to the FBI then there would also be other charges that you would also fine him guilty of. I mean they had 23 other charges and I'm sure some of them had to be related to what he lied about. Not sure if having a retrial is worth the money. Just give him the 5 yrs and move on with life.

Re: Illinois Governor Arrested on Corruption Charges
I wonder if the other 23 being deemed mistrials had anything to do with Rahm Emmanuel's involvement and lack of cooperation?
Also, Valerie Jarrett is in hot water herself, and was reportedly who Barrack Obama wanted to handpick as his replacement...relayed to Blago via Rahm Emmanuel. There are a lot of connections when it comes to Chicago/Illinois/now White House politics. Even Jesse Jackson, Jr. was apparently involved. The whole thing is a huge mess. You can't but to wonder if Rod getting off on 23/24 charges has anything to do with the other people involved and the political ramifications of bringing more attention to them. Witness: Rahm Emanuel asked me to call Blagojevich to say President Elect Barack Obama wanted Valerie Jarrett - The Blago Blog Rahm Emanuel talked with governor's office about who should fill Obama's Senate seat - chicagotribune.com Blagojevich scandal: Rahm Emanuel and Jesse Jackson Jr face new revelations - Times Online Rahm Emanuel 'traded political favours with Rod Blagojevich' - Telegraph
