200 years ago, people called you by what the color your skin looked with the word skin after it. As much as people joke about whiteskins, thats what whites were called back then. African American/Blacks were called blackskins. Indians (both native american and from India and that part of Asia) were called redskins, and hispanics as well as chinese/japanese/korean ect were called yellowskins.
It isn't 200 years ago. I think there are many "real" racist terms out there for Native Americans. Also, are you seriously saying (or suggesting) that a team called the blackskins, with an African American person as a mascot, would not be considered racist? C'mon man!

N.B. This has got to be a flame.

terrible. what has it done to home values? i know they were building tons of town homes between 295 and arundel mills. i never understood the design of "mills" like that, one story, have to walk 6 miles to get around, wastes so much land/space. potomac mills is the same way, great job, simon. much rather go to the columbia mall, used to enjoy the laurel mall before it got cancer

Again, what's the purpose of a team name that's derogatory?

Giants, Eagles, Titans, Saints....Wankers.

Don't see the self-aggrandizement or clarion call in the last one. Good luck selling jerseys with the name on.

We have this topic every year. The name stays, but if you think it's racist you should withdraw your support.

When did this thread turn into a "PC" Debating with the Enemy one?

Report: Michael Vick has gone through $29 million since 2008 | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports

This has to be disheartening. Bank 33 mil and still be almost broke.

If the Black Community call it racist, then so be it. But I do not have the right to decide what is racist for Black people, thats up to them what they deem derogatory to themselves. Just like you dont have the right to decide what is racist to Indians. The fact that your entire argument is based on "Indians are to stupid to think for themselves" means you are more racist to an Indian than someone saying redskin. What do you not understand about that? Just because you support the erasing of any and all Indian Heritage from the American record books says more about you than it does me.

Stop claiming your blatant hatred of Indians then claim that im the one who is flaming anyone. You are the one saying that Indians are so worthless that they are not allowed to think for themselves. That YOU are the one who decides what THEY are supposed to be offended by.
