Men against boys, simple as that. The NFL is so much faster and complex.

You cannot sit there and spin it that RG3 is just as safe running the double and triple option than if he weren't. You cannot make the arguement that having 11 or more rushes per game with a 210 lb 6'1'' QB is smart if you are thinking about breaking in the rookie slow and steady. RG3 is getting absolutely CRUSHED out there, and noone can say he isn't. Yes we are not coaches, but it doesn't take a coach to see that one of these times, he isn't getting up if this continues week in and week out. We paid a RIDICULOUS amount to get this guy, seriously. Just look at the Nationals and Strasburg. They won't let the guy throw over 150 innings. Its called protecting your investment. RG3 isn't bulletproof, and has had some injuries in the past. It would be foolish to think that at this current pace, he can finish out a season healthy and just fine.

Just saying that the coaches are really rolling the dice, after we gave up two additional #1's and a #2. Thats alot to risk to have your 210 lb rookie QB be your qb, as well as your rushing threat, taking on MLB's and 265 lb defensive ends every other play.
Look, I am not suggesting RGIII is not getting hit - a lot - and reading Keim this week, it is likely he is getting hit more than he would in a normal drop back set. At the same time, while their is risk from this, I also see the benefit from having him run the option. You, and others, seem to (1) think that their is no benefit from running the option offense; and/or (2) if any benefit exists, it is far outweighed by the risk posed to RGIII's long term health.

As to (1), I dispute it for all the reasons previously stated by myself and others.

As to (2), while I originally strongly disagreed with this, I am not as sure of it now. I still think the option offense is the right thing now for RGIII, but believe we need to find a way to cut down on his hits. According to KEim, he took 10 hits while running or w/out the ball while running the option including one solid hit. (At the same time, he was sacked six times and hit passing 11 times - the bottom line is, with our line, he is going to be hit a lot). That number needs to go down, how? not sure. Trashing the offensive design and starting from ground zero, however, strikes me as not the best plan either.

Don't kid yourself, so did Beathard (anyone remember Carl Powell, Richard Williams, Bob Slater, Steve Hamilton - didn't think so. 2nd and 3rd round duds from the early 80's).

Guys go on to success on other teams all the time - Cris Carter anyone? Warren Moon? Steve Largent?

Thanks Matty, hadn't seen that before. And it's not like RG3 couldn't pack on some pounds (muscle), but it would likely slow him down a bit. I love his speed and agility, and don't really think he needs to be any heavier. The real issue is the pounding, so I hope they find a way to limit the hits.

But RG3 would hit Kendall Wright all day long on Belichick's pathetic Patriots defense.
No chance man, those are kids, and the NFL are grown men. You need to remember that the game is way faster and all of the players are elite level football players. In college not all of the players are on that same level.

Have gotten acustomed to the Skins losing close games, seeing them put up points has been an unexpected surprise this season.

Harping about the hits, is only because no Redskins fan wants to see anything happen to RG3. Was listening to B-Mitch on the radio and he equated RG3 to high end Italian sports car, like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, and that if you had a car like that you would not enter into a demolition derby, and basically that is what the Skins are doing with how they are running the offense. You, and others may disagree, but I agree with Brian Mitchell's sentiment.

In my opinon, for the little that it is worth I don't think this team is ready to contend yet. Unfortunately for all of us who support the Burgundy and Gold the $36M cap hit, has set the team back. I don't think it was coincidental that the Giant's owner ensured that both the Skins and Cowboys took a big hit. There is no doubt in my mind that the other owners colluded, but that does not change the situation. I think cap hit did not allow Allen/Shannahan to be as active as they would have liked in free agency, and some of what we are seeing on the field is an obvious consequence of the penalty.

Hopefully the coaching staff and team can rally and the team can even out its record this weekend. HTTR.

I think it's being overblown just how much they "exposed" RG3 and I'm certain it will continue to be an element, but not the primary feature of the offense.

He's fine, I love the dimension of it. Keeps defense s guessing the whole time. Just wait until PG gets healthy

Yes, lets compare our Franchise QB to an automobile.. What a great analysis.

Offense is working fine, and we are not the only one running something like this in the NFL. This isn't new. As the season goes on, more plays will be added to the offense for our ROOKIE QB, and you will most likely see less option play
