Re: Let's talk good beer
Grabbed a 6er of Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Wild after enjoying their Little Sumpin' Sumpin Ale'.
Heavy floral and citrus notes, was expecting a hoppy bitterbomb (72 IBUs) while drinking, but because it's a belgium style IPA, it's rather smooth. But at 8.8%, 2 had me feeling pretty good on a Wednesday night. Highly recommend it. Really digging all I can find by Lagunitas.

Re: Let's talk good beer
yeah, ive gone a lagunitas bend lately. I like the lil sumpin for day time sippin but havent seen the "wild" version yet. i probably need to look closer at the labels. i generally dont like belguim styles though ...
stumbled upon a great beer store - canton crossing beer n wine. they have a lil bar and you can get a pour then walk the store browsing (beer stores in balt city can only be open on sunday if you have a lil bar). its in the new target/harris teeter/old navy/chic fil a shopping center right off boston st in baltimore. (would be an easy on n off from 95 for any passersby). they also have a rewards program and the sales clerk started talking all these diff types of hops. picked up a variety "brewers choice" from great divide for $20 and a sixer of firestone union jack for 12.99. the great divide has 4 beer selections, one of my favorites in titus, but 2 others are belguim and my dreaded belguim white. their cigar selection is lacking though .. piss poor selection. no patel, no CAI |

Re: Let's talk good beer
Sculpin is one of the best IPAs out there. Big guy is good too don't get me wrong but I'll take Sculpin any day of the week. One thing that makes a difference is due to its price Sculpin sits on shelfs longer increasing your chance of getting it past its prime. Its a beer that goes downhill 60-90 days after bottling.

Re: Let's talk good beer
Had several Eastern Shore (MD) brews over the weekend...
Met a buddy of mine at 16 Mile Brewery - Bold Session Ales, Georgetown, DE. Had a pint of their Tiller Brown Ale, a sample of their small batch called Killer Tiller, which is their Tiller Brown Ale infused with 8 different peppers (including Habaneros, Thai Peppers and Ghost Peppers), and a pint of Seed Free and Joy, which is their blonde ale infused with watermelon. Then went to a beer pairing dinner in West OC, MD featuring Evolution Craft Brewing Company. First beer was Jacques Au Lantern, their pumpkin beer. Second was their Secret Spot Winter Ale, which felt like a flatter Sam Adams. And the last beer was their Rise Up Stout, which was my favorite of the night. Very "thick" coffee stout. After that, went out to Burley Oak Brewing Company in Berlin Maryland | Be Burley. Had their Nitro El Camino, Brown IPA. Another tasty offering.

Re: Let's talk good beer
redskins mike - i looked for a brew date or best by date on a bottle of sculpin but only saw code .. one night i might google the codes and see what comes of it.
BD - you always go cool places. im extremely jealous. got a sierra nevada snowpack .. the boomerang IPA was really really good, the coffee stout and ale is okay, all porters suck. i dont know why they still make porters. I need an amazing pumpkin beer, any suggestions? |

Re: Let's talk good beer
I'm a huge fan of Celebration Ale. Great beer, picked up a case of it.
I also discovered a terrific craft brewer out of Quebec while I was in Disney. The Canada section at Epcot's world showcase was featuring beers from Unibroue. I tried these and LOVE them: Unibroue Trois Pistoles Trois Pistoles | Unibroue | Chambly, QC, Canada | BeerAdvocate If you like Troegs' Mad Elf, you'll love this one. Unibroue La Fin du Monde La Fin Du Monde | Unibroue | Chambly, QC, Canada | BeerAdvocate And if you like Victory's Golden Monkey, you'll love this one. It beats Golden Monkey.

Re: Let's talk good beer
im installing the app now .... does it allow you to keep track of the beers you try and then share with others, see what others thought?
M - i would really rather take the family to atlantis or something but i imagine in a few years i will be spending 10k for a disney trip just to stand in outrageous lines and pay outrageous prices for outrageously warm flat beer. schneed - i usually stick to american beers for freshness purposes but im gonna try adn find the 2 beers you mentioned ... shouldnt be too hard to remember Unibrow |
