That all looks good to me. If you are solely judging a HC on SB wins then you will never find the perfect HC. To win the SB is a major accomplishment that requires many factors including luck. You should be looking for a guy that makes you competive which puts you in postion to win a SB, over 14 years in Den MS did that.

Bringing a team to the playoffs in the NFL is a big accomplishment, this is not the NBA or NHL were every team makes the playoffs.

Vinny needs to worry about Vinny. "If" anything did go one in regards to the AH scandal and he opens his mouth he would be black balled. I'm sure most owners would not want to chance bringing him in and having him later running his mouth about their dirty laundry. About the ony team he would not be black balled from would be the Titans.

Honestly though if he really wants to be in football at any level Pro's, or college then he needs to simply walk away the bigger man (LOL) and say what happened at Redskins Park stays at Redskins Park. He would much more respected for it and might find a job with another team which needs his ability to work around the CAP even though it might be gone.

I don't like this...this just means Shanahan is going to be gunning for a QB with the first pick and we will have to wait at least 2 more years for a contender. Thoughts?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged

After reading a few articles yesterday about this process, its looking more and more like Shanahan was asked what it would take to get him hired and he said get rid of Vinny.

Many of the other GM's that saw and talked to Vinny at the NFL meetings late last week said Vinny was not aware of any changes. He was scouting and preparing for the draft. That does not sound like a guy getting ready to quit.
The fact that he went to the meetings is a sign that he was out of the loop.
Plus throw his childish disrespectful slap at Zorn during his exit speech and that is a sign of a guy that is not happy about this move.

Shanahan isn't the QB collector that Gruden is. While he may eventually want "his own QB," one has to think he'd be fine with Campbell. QB with our #1 is a distinct possibility but if it happened, it would happen after Jason Campbell was traded for pick(s). Given Campbells improved performance recently, combined with the quality of free agent quarterbacks available, and Campbell could be a hot commodity on the offseason. its not unreasonable to think he could get us a high 2nd or low 1st round pick. in either case, it would make the "sting" of selecting a 1st round QB more palatable. Cowher is rumored to want Campbell to be his QB in Carolina. Arizona is also a possible trade destination (assuming we swapped him for Leinhart, which is very likely if we had Shanny).

As of this moment, i'd break the odds down this way on who our starting QB will be in 2010:

Jason Campbell - 50%
Matt Leinhart - 40%
Rookie QB or Veteran QB while our 1st round QB is groomed - 10%

One other thing to keep in mind is that Mike Shanahan (who, make no mistake, would be running the show here - Allen would just deal with the details, paperwork, etc.) has always been shrewd when it comes to trades. He values his draft picks and will drive a hard bargain, whereas Snyderatto was always more than willing to throw in a little extra to "sweeten the pot" and get a deal done. I don't expect us to get "the short end of the stick" in trades going forward.

Where do you get your information? TMZ, Star Mag., People, US Weekly...

Can you sit at night after pulling so much stuff out of your ass all day?

Carolina would have to pay 6 million to get rid of Fox and their GM. It seems very doubtful that they will do this. And I think the Cowher to Carolina buzz has been pretty quiet lately.

As I live in Raleigh and 90% of everyone i know is a panthers fan, i know everyone's hoping he comes to Carolina. As long as he doesn't go to Dallass, i'm happy.

So what does that mean? In any company if you want to stay employed you will have to eventually go with what the owner wants. You can offer your opinion and make a case for it but in the end the owner holds the cards.

No one person is going to come to the Redskins and completely dominate Dan and his decisions, impossible.

Who do people want as GM Hitler??? It just blows my mind people are complaining about Bruce Allen when the guy probably doesn't even know what his office looks like yet. give him a chance.

Some people are just never fawking happy.

So do you think they realistic going to get rid of Fox given the buyout situation? Just curious.

I honestly don't know enough about the "frugality" of the Panthers ownership, but in talking to my friends (who are honestly not "savvy" enough to get into the financial aspect of front office decisions), they feel Fox will be fired and they HOPE Cowher's the next guy. I don't think they feel Cowher to Carolina is about as much of a given as we feel Shanahan to Washington is - but from my point of view, i've always felt Cowher would end up in Carolina (despite how much i wish he'd be our next coach.). I've got no inside information, its just an opinion/gut feeling. I talk to my friends and i've read the same stuff online that you probably have.

At this point, i think Shanahan's coming here, Cowher's going to Carolina, and Gruden (despite the current contract situation) is going to Dallas. Watch me be wrong on all 3 counts.
