Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Come on, man, it's human to feel bad for ANYONE whose leg is snapped like that, especially if it threatens his career.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
True.
However there is another point: Alex has made enough money in his career where he does not have to play anymore if he feels like his health as he get older is more important than a game. I am certain he will rehab like crazy and make every effort to play again. Nobody wants to go out like this. However Alex was drafted very high and he has more than enough money to retire if he decides next year it ain’t worth it anymore. |

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
This can be life altering. Kiss goodbye running a marathon or skiing with the family or hell even simple things like going up and down stairs can be debilitating. After something like that I hope he can get full mobility back without pain.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
I don’t how this affects the salary cap, he’s due $13 mil this year, $15 mil on 2019 starting January 5th. Then what if he retires?

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Although the teddy Bridgewater injury was really bad, he sat out the next year. Could it be same for Smith? Smith was also just as bad but different.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
While both injuries are gruesome, you're still talking about two totally different injuries, and two players who were about tens years apart in age. Trust me, age is a factor when it comes to healing from injury.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
I know that, basically what I’m saying could this be a retirement factor? Teddy was 23, Alex is 34.

Re: Offence and Alex Smith
Overthecap has this blurb
Alex Smith was traded to the Redskins on March 14, 2018. Smith signed a four year contract extension with the Redskins on March 16, 2018 worth $94 million in new money. Per Albert Breer, Smith*will receive a $27 million signing bonus*and $55 million is guaranteed at signing. If on the roster on the 5th day of the 2019 league year, Smith's 2020 $16 million salary will also become fully guaranteed. And if he is designated post jun 1 then the numbers look like this 2019 hit Hit $20,400,000 Cap savings $0 2020 Hit $5,400,000 Cap savings $16,000,000 Not awful really |
