Given this, how is it that people think Perine will beat out Kelley? Of course, we still have the preseason games.

I think they may end up with 4 RBs, since you want a backup for Guice and one for Thompson.

Kelley and Perine could both make it.

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster

Lotta decisions to be made...couple things to watch

1. Health of Perine and Marshall. I’m really hope Jay won’t keep Kelly bc he simply likes him....but there is legitimate concern he will. Hopefully Perine is ready cause that impacts the Kelly spot more than anything.

2. Can DJS and Monte make it through the year healthy? When it comes to depth, I’m a little worried. Everrett is solid depth...Apke is the worst safety in the league if he has to take the field. Like to see us add someone here from cuts.

3. As expected the interior Oline depth is some of the worst in the league...again another add here would make a ton of sense.

4. Sims needs to make the team as WR. On display the other night..it was evident that the starting passing game struggled. This was with Reed and Crowder so I’m less worried than others. But still Doctson was a no show....I’m giving him the first 8 games of the season then it’s time to give someone else a shot.

5. We got a young Corner group..again, not shocked if we add someone.

Marshall could end up on IR

I think the decision comes down to Bibbs or Kelley

Based on Gruden's statements, it seems like he believe he must have a backup for Thompson so I believe Kelley will be cut by the time we set the roster.

There is no need for Kelley and Perine both now that Peterson is here

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster

I think Kelley is a virtual lock to make the team for two reasons.

1. He may be a bit of a plodder but he is versatile. He can play on all three downs. He catches the ball well, he is said to be our best pass protector, and he may be able to play a little fullback, as well.

2. He is durable and therefore available. His availability should not be overlooked.

Bibbs is our CT backup so I don't see him getting cut.

Since the 4th RB is going to be inactive on game days I'm not sure I buy the CT backup argument, but we shall see

Re: Let's project the 53 man roster

We got some decisions at WR after this season...hopefully Doctson can develop into something serviceable.
