Re: Making the Switch from Cable to just Internet
I've never paid $6 for one, they are usually $2.99 or $3.99

i still don't understand why FRPLG and MAtty don't just use Red Box for a $1 a movie. You can check their inventories on-line reserve then go pick it up. I guess it depends where you live too and how close one is to you. I can walk to 3 of them.

Re: Making the Switch from Cable to just Internet
Simple, it's easier and quicker to use Amazon. The extra $2 doesn't bother me, and the nearest redbox for me is a 10 minute drive away. Not worth it to me.

Re: Making the Switch from Cable to just Internet
I ran across a article like this a few weeks ago:
http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/03/15/netflix-future-contracts/ So I guess Netflix didnt really have much choice. Im definitely switching to just streaming and either ordering from amazon, redbox or something else like vudo come September. Also in regards to a thread i started a while back, albeit with some threadstarter’s remorse, there is a documentary streaming on netflicks about Ray Kurzweil and the singularity of machine intelligence. I havent watched the whole thing but it seems like an decent documentary and at least makes you think for those interested in checking it out. Also how long does content stay streaming? Will this documentary get replaced or does netflicks just add to their catalog? http://www.thewarpath.net/parking-lo...-t2-style.html

Re: Making the Switch from Cable to just Internet
i use a slingbox in my parent's house and eztv.it ... no commercials on the tv i watch, lots of bbc stuff, slingbox = 120 local NoVA channels watchable anywhere (like seeing skins games while in kyrgyzstan)
and the price... free. I haven't had a cable bill in about 6 years, which is nice. |

Re: Making the Switch from Cable to just Internet
Im getting down to crunch time as football season approaches.....
I still dont have a antenna for local channels. I was planning on setting up a antenna outside but every since i got fios internet it messes up the single over the coax for some reason. Not really sure what the issue is but i havent messed around with trying to figure it out at all. Im prob just gonna buy a little indoor hd antenna. Also my roommate taught me about veetle.com and that works really well. Definitely worth trying out imo. Also matty im pretty sure youre a mac guy and playon doesnt work through mac for some reason. Apparently people are tying to get veetle to work though roku but it wont right now because you wouldnt be able to get the sound to come on. Im almost thinking about getting a stand alone desktop for my tv.... thats really want you need to do if you watch a lot of tv.
