Re: Chaos at the Capitol: New thread edition
I wonder if this tension between liberal nanny state and laissez faire capitalism is how the country felt leading up to the civil war. The level of difference between the two sides now, and the growing width of the violent fringe on both sides of our society seem destined to implode. Ironically the two sides are amazingly similar to the 1860s. Not specifically speaking about racism, but the rural or land owning class versus the industrial/urban class.
Not shockingly I think opposite of G1 in that I believe a mixed congress with biden as president could have done so much good toward bridging the divide, but a stacked liberal federal government will exacerbate the differences as the extreme left push an out of balance agenda through. Re: Chaos at the Capitol: New thread edition
Yes i did. My best government is split house and senate with a republican president
I can actually rank all of them because of the different powers each house has Pres rep sen rep. house dem is my favorite and if the house had focused on passing legislation not blocking DT so many good bills could have passed Next is pres rep house rep sen dem. This is a very good setup for fiscal issues not as good for social liberty Next is pres dem house rep senate dem Then pres dem house dem senate rep Next is any combination where president is one party and house/senate are the other party Finally the worst combination is when one party controls all 3 sections because you disenfranchise half the population and it skews the policies too far one way. If only McConnell had allowed the vetting of Garland to proceed OR not ram barrett through last minute. His hypocrisy and seated republicans cheering it on really pissed me off. But he did both. he also changed the rules so judicial appointments take 2 hours now. |

Re: Chaos at the Capitol: New thread edition
I don't get how security was so lax to begin with. All of these morons obviously had Jan 6th circled on their calendars, you can't tell me we didn't have intelligence from online chatter to indicate that something big was in the works from these wacko groups like Q and the Proud Boys. Complete fail on so many levels.

^^ video of the moment protestors entered the capitol through a side door. really good interesting video, about 1.5 mins, you can feel the tension and the moment its breached I highly encourage everyone to watch it Just one officer running down the stairs .. how he restrained himself to not hit that dude with his baton I have no idea ^^ this guy basically walked back that officer |
