Re: Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins
Don't forget the exchange rate,I think that translates into 2 in Canadian terms.

I still think, unless Minnesota gets in a bidding match with the Jets that his contract will end up around Garrapolo money. When push comes to shove the Jets and Denver both will go with the cheap top draft pick. In fact Arizona even being in the picture might even show that the agent isnt seeing the numbers he wants. Also a throw away line in the article says KC isn't overly concerned with the way the money is structured because he's made so much the last two years would seem to be a reducing of expectations since original rumors were that the Jets were going to throw a ton up front. |

Sure sucks to be GB having one of the best QBs to play the game, a guy that truly elevates the entire offense

I’m not buying this idea he’ll need to give someone a discount just to go to a good team.

I can see the Vikings and Broncos asking his agent what would be an acceptable offer to sign him, then asking if he'd be willing to take slightly less in the interest of team-building.

Re: Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins
Good, move the hell on!!!!!! I pulled for Kirk, as he is a good QB and a very nice guy, but whenever he had the chance to shut his detractors up, he gave them more rope to hang him with. Two years ago, all we needed was one out of three wins at the end to get into the playoffs and he couldn't come up with that, then the end of last season pretty much the same thing. Guy couldn't rise to the occasion to show folks he could take the team to the next level. The guy is a good Qb, that is above average and maybe can get a well run team into the playoffs on a consistent basis. The Redskins are not that team yet.

Re: Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins
Both the Vikings and Jets could pay what the reports say he wants cap and cash wise, so if he takes less it won't be for team building it will be because that was the best offer he received. I still think it will be less than the reports that have been floating around, as I think alot of that is agent press to play his client's value up.
Fortunately this will be over in about 10 days, and what else would we all have talked about? Pies and sandwiches??? |

Re: Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins
The Redskins are going to come through all this looking very wise for not signing him to top QB money. Whoever gets him is going to end up with a thinner roster and we all know that’s the opposite of what he needs. If he goes to the Vikings, his window to win it all is maybe two years at most before the Vikings end having to forego resigning some of their talented young players.
The road to the Super Bowl would run through Philadelphia, and there’s no way I can see Cousins lifting his team over Carson Wentz in the crunch moments. That sentence sucked.

Re: Redskins don't plan on third straight franchise tag for Kirk Cousins
I think I am rooting for the Vikings to get him, I would like to see how he plugs and plays into a top-notch team. Was it that Gruden and the Skins couldn't put enough (or the right) pieces around him? Or was it that he couldn't lift the team at crunch time? The nice thing is: with us having Alex Smith and the Vikings getting Cousins it would almost give you a perfect look at both scenarios.
