re: Let's talk
So bad news, I won't be watching the Skins game this weekend. The good news? My wife is taking me to a beer and bacon event. They will serve us different bacon dishes and pair them up with local craft brews, as a bonus she also ordered the gourmet cheese side plate.

Can't go wrong with that at all. It's just rock solid. I always have some on hand since it's the best option at the gas station around the corner from my place.

re: Let's talk
amnesia ipa from somewhere in california. i really really really liked it. ive never seen it before. i recommend. sadly they dont list the abv which i thought was required in the america.
drinking blackend vodoo now . . its okay, not buying it again though. im gonna look hard for that rasputin beer tomorrow. kinda like a treasure hunt. for what ever reason i imagine it being like sammy smith's oatmeal stout.

re: Let's talk
the rasputin stout is good borderlining on great for me. but i feel like its just a really good stout and not worth the 10.99/4 pack but i will keep it in my arsenal for the occasional purchase.
any wine fans? i find myself buying a bottle of red with a good sixer on any grocery run nowadays. if anyone can recommend a good of red at 10 or under im all ears. i normally do the standard mark west pinot noir, mondavis pinot, diseno's malbec and a few other well known but respected reds. any red wine suggestions?

re: Let's talk
I tend to favor drier Reds. A good bordeaux goes a long way. Check out Chianti. My wife didn't care for red wine until she had her first sip of Chianti. Most cheaper end chiantis run $8-12. Just make sure the chianti is made in Tuscany.
Went to my favorite beer store over the weekend and made a mixed 6er, mostly stouts. Here are the 3 I had yesterday: Fuel Café | Lakefront Brewery - Great dark coffee flavor. I enjoyed it and could see buying 6ers of it. Although I'm still waiting for Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout | Flying Dog Brewery to come out, but Fuel Cafe is a great alternative. Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout : Brooklyn Brewery - Good chocolate flavor, it was ok. I'm a big fan of Young's and compared to this, I'd rather have Young's. LTD Limited Lager Series - Looked like a stout, went down like a lager. Could be a nice stepping stone for those people who think Guinness is too dark or "thick". I really enjoyed it.

re: Let's talk
I had a pretty good boxed red wine last night. Big house or something like that. weird shaped box. Crowd-pleaser for sure...
It was about 20 bucks and much better than any of the other boxed wines I've had (bota, Blackbox, etc).

re: Let's talk
Here are the other 3 from my mixed 6er:
Baba Black Lager - Very good, another beer along the lines of 21st Amendment Back in Black. Very drinkable. The store I got these from has several beers from Uinta, and I'll go back and try some more. Wolaver's Alta Gracia Coffee Porter - I really enjoyed this. Strong coffee and caramel flavor. Full Sail IPA - India Pale Ale - I also really enjoyed this IPA. Has a good hoppy taste, but the aftertaste is quite smooth. Not as harsh as Flying Dog's Snake Dog or Dogfish Head's 60 Minute.

re: Let's talk
Let's see. What have I had since my last post...
Brew Dog Punk IPA: After watching their show on Esquire Network, when I ran across this at the store I bought my losing Mega Millions ticket, I had to pick it up. Not very hop forward, quite smooth, good citrus flavor. Would be a nice intro into the IPA world for those who don't like the hoppiness of most IPAs. Lancaster Brewing Double Chocolate Milk Stout: Had this while waiting on a carry out order at my favorite sandwich shop. Took me back to my childhood. Well, in an adult sort of way. Just like swigging a glass of your favorite chocolate milk. Quite tasty. Full Tilt Berger Cookie Chocolate Stout: Berger Cookies are a Baltimore institution, and so this Baltimore brewery used them to inspire this chocolate stout. And the taste is quite similar to the cookie. Another quality stout. Starr Hill Snow Blind: A dopplebock lager, had it on tap at Hard Times. Pretty tasty, went great with the wings I had.

re: Let's talk
Not sure if DFH is a microbrew any more, but I tried the DFH sixty one.
It's essentially the 60min IPA with grape must or something. Kinda weird, but really good. Give it a shot.
