Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
If the 49ers make a move for a QB, I would inquire about Jimmy G. for a 3rd or 4th, much better than Carr.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Interesting takes you have. You claim Carr takes too many sacks and throws too many interceptions; and say Garoppolo is much better than Carr. Garoppolo career 7.2 sack%, 2.7 int %. Carr career 4.9 sack%, 1.9 int %. Facts don't support your opinions. Overall stats favor Carr over Garoppolo in a big way. Carr is clearly the better trade target, IMO, if he is available.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I think the WFT needs to move toward getting a franchise QB now. Our DL is the cornerstone of this team, but as their rookie contracts end they will want to be paid. We won’t be able to keep them all.
An elite, franchise QB makes you into a winner. Not surprisingly the teams with the top QB are in the SB. MOST DRAFT PICKS ARE BUSTS. Even when you’re talking about draft picks in the first day, most aren’t even in the NFL in five years. If having great draft picks equaled success, then the worst teams in the NFL would turn in perennial winners - but neither Cleveland or OUR TEAM have done so. Part of the reason the WFT has failed in the last 20 years is because a football neophyte, Dan Snyder, has either made the top draft personnel choices or heavily influenced that choice. Ramsey, Campbell, RG3 and Haskins are all QB draft busts due to our owner. Trade whatever you have to, to get an elite QB. Watson will cost a king’s ransom, but you’re a contender for 10 years. Stafford will cost far less, but his shelf life is just 3-6 years. Still, getting him will make you a contender for that period. Alex Smith is not the answer and besides we need his cap savings this season. An immobile QB can not succeed in the NFL today, unless he is a HOF QB, which Alex is NOT. Heinicke MAY be the answer, but even with his monster game against the Bucs, he’s too uncertain to take a chance on. Sign him as a great backup. It’s easy to say, “find the great QB who can be a HOFer, but isn’t in the top 3-4 QB taken in that year’s draft. MANY, Many GM’s passed up on Brady (6th round), Wilson and Mahomes. Finding the guaranteed winner QB in the draft is a needle in a haystack. Better to bet the farm on one of the QB FA and then build the team around him. Get either Watson or Stafford and then use any juice you have left to get an excellent FA WR and middle LB. The rest of the team you’re going to have to draft. I’m disappointed that they’re letting Kyle Smith drift away. He’s good at getting starters from the lower draft picks and UDFA. We’ll need that ability if we can win bidding war that will occur for Stafford or Watson. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If San Fran is giving up on Jimmy G, that says a lot. Either they don't believe in his ability, or they don't believe in his availability. I'm not even trading a 7th round pick for him, and picking up that contract. I'm glad he's SF's problem. They'll probably just release him and take the cap hit rather than pay him $50M over the next two years. |

Jimmy G is garbage. No way I'd want him over Carr. I'd rather stick with Allen or Heinicke over JG.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
JMO I would offer the Texans 2021 1st and 3rd round pick, 2022 1st and 5th round pick, and 2023 1st and 6th round pick. This comes with a time limit take it or we move on and look at Stafford. My thinking is make it so whoever gets him has to give up alot. We should make our best offer and move on.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I’m not saying Jimmy G. Is great but he’s a lot better than Carr. I watch all the SF and Raiders games and have seen enough of both. If Carr was better than Jimmy G. Why aren’t the 49ers trying to make a move for him? Bottom line, I really don’t want neither, I either trade for Watson, Stafford or move up for Zack Wilson.

Jimmy gets hurt looking at grass, no way on him. He's a backup now at best.

You have to have the balls to "risk" finding the franchise QB. If your GM can't find one, find a new GM period. Snyder a huge problem, no arguing that. Rather risk a few picks and find a franchise QB, have him 5 years on rookie deal, and have position locked up for 10 years, than squander picks and need another QB in 3 years. If your goal is to win multiple SBs, it is abundantly clear how you do that is salary cap era: draft a franchise QB. Older retreads you trade valuable picks for are fools gold. Everyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. And by the way, when the Packers drafted Rodgers, they weren't sure he was answer, so they kept drafting QBs. Virtually every team late runs in playoffs has a long term QB they drafted and developed. This is not accidental. And again, if your GM can't find a QB, find a new GM. We are hosed with RR being defacto GM. We will be very good but never get to the mountaintop. RR will make the short term decision, as most coaches would, as it takes 1-3 years to develop a rookie. Not saying finding a QB in draft is easy, but a good GM can do it. Snyder will always meddle. Is the goal to win the division and get blown out 1st or 2nd round of playoffs every year, or win the SB? Going to have to beat Mahomes, Rodgers, etc., eventually, and need a true franchise QB to do that. Not a retread. People just don't get it. There actually isn't a balance to trading draft picks that are gold for QBs on the wrong side of 30 or close to it. You pay through the teeth. Then you don't have enough guys on rookie deals, overpay FA, last decade here in other words. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
With Aaron Rogers being unhappy in GB, I would inquire about him or Jordan Love, see what if they are willing to make a move. By the way, SF doesn’t like Jimmy G. Cause he’s not Montana or Young, their coaches and fans are caught up in that mentality.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I mentioned Love last year, I thought his tape was really good. I doubt they move him though. I also highly doubt ARod leaves.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Love and ARod are Favre and ARod 16 years apart. I can't see him leaving this year, but I bet he's gone in '23 and does what Brady did in moving to an immediate contender.
