Re: Dwayne Haskins

What are the chances that the issues brought up here are the reason O'Connell is the OC this year. I am sure the coaching staff is aware if we can spot it from TV.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

RG3 was never a great passer, Haskins has that potential but before I go crazy I want to see him prove it in the NFL first

This guy is very impressive. He has a great arm, accuracy, and intelligence. He did have a great wr core. However, he also displayed elite passing ability. I think we can start him day one. But I would prefer he sits for a year.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

he wont sit for a year. even if he doesnt start day one i doubt case or colt will quell Dan with a 3-3 record and average play.

I just dont see it happening. Haskins is likely to see the field this year one way or another.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

There's little to no evidence that a guy benefits from sitting in today's NFL. Does anyone really think Mahomes wouldn't have lit it up as a rookie?

Baker sat for what? 3 games and came in to light it up. If Keenum plays really well in the Pre season I'm all for him starting day 1, but if Haskins is ready to go , why waste his time?

I've been saying this all along. Who improves at anything if you're watching? If you're a virgin do you get better at sex by watching You Porn all day?? Dummy down the playbook, give Haskins all the reps and coach him up. If he ends up sucking we'll know at the end of this year. But playing Case just slows everything down. I heard yesterday on one of the media outlets that Keenum is getting most of the 1st team reps. That makes zero sense. The guy is the poster for a journeymen, low tier starter.

And what good came from sitting Mayfield in order to play Taylor? It was the ego from the coaching staff. Or from Hue Jackson. Taylor is a backup.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

My thing with Keenum is he's had multiple chances on multiple teams to be a long term starter. In each of those instances the team decided he wasn't good enough to stay on as their starter. Why should he be given another opportunity here? When he was signed it should have been told to him that you're here to backup our rookie qb and spot start if needed.

I think Haskins will be ready by week 1 and he gives us the best chance to win.

That is if we have Trent back

I don't see Trent giving up $11M to sit out.

I don't have a problem with making Haskins "earn" the job. They don't want to go the RG3 route again and that started by handing him the job from day 1 no questions asked.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

The only time keeping a rookie qb on the bench is when you know he is going to get demolished by the first few defenses, and that breaks a fragile ego.

I'm not saying Haskins has a fragile ego, but our first 5 games this year are brutal, for that reason alone I would consider sitting him till the mini bye after the Vikings game. Besides I'd like to see Keenum beat the Vikings

No need to start our rookie qb against all 3 division opponents in his first 4 games, and possibly let them get into his head. Play the Bills, Jets, Lions and Panthers first before meeting the division.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

This one to me is easy. Have an open competition and let the best player start week 1. You owe the locker room that much. Put the best team on the field each week regardless of draft position or contract. That can go a long way to stabilizing the team (not the franchise).
