Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
The biggest mistake was obviously the decision to trade for Wentz. It's hard to blame them for trying to fix the QB situation, but it didn't work, the evaluation of him and his fit for this team was flawed, and his cost had ripple effects on the rest of the roster. In hindsight it would have been better to go with Heinicke/Howell/Fromm, and use the resources spent on Wentz to upgrade the OL, LBs, and secondary. RR would have been roasted for not doing anything to upgrade the QB position, but it may have worked out better in the end.
I think Ron & Company do try hard, but the results are not there. We need a staff that tries hard and produces. Lord knows what this organization will look like in six months. Here's to hope - again... |

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
The name isn’t changing again. Why would the NFL allow that after they already rebranded. You guys have to remember the league has some control of their Shield too. Also what fucking name does everyone else want?
Warriors is a no go because of Golden State Redwolves was a no also What else is there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
The reason the name is as good a dead is not because it is unpopular (it is), it is because it was picked by Snyder. No branding action taken by Snyder will survive the sell of the team. The owners (and the NFL) will want to cleanse as much of Snyder as it can from the franchise (and the NFL). The only way the name survives is if Snyder doesn't sell the team.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I think if a new owner comes in and rebrands right away then we are back to having an egotistical, crappy owner. This team has so many problems on and off the field, congressional hearings, law suits, toxic work place stigma, NFL investigations, bad GM decisions, except for personal suits against Dan all that stuff will remain against the team and the new owner will have to deal with that, the name is the least of the problems.

Rumor is Harbaugh wants back in to the NFL. I’d take him over Ron in a heartbeat

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Is Harbaugh friends with any of the potential buyers? Must admit while I agree with sd, we should go with youth, Harbaugh is proven. Can't see him coming here under Snyder though.
Priority 1is a new owner. What they want is then priority 2, 3, 4 etc.We have no say. Ideally it happens soon enough for the best outcomes in FA and the draft, else as said, we'll likely roll into next season as is. Name change would certainly make no sense in year 1, and probably not year 2. Get the on field product improved first, the rest is window dressing. |

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
My guess is, if it happens, the sale is done by the draft, but not soon enough to hire a new staff before all the important off season decisions need to be made regarding free agency, draft picks, trades, extensions, etc. So the staff we have now will still be making all the decisions for next year's football team. Unfortunately, it's status quo for 2023.

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
If the team is sold, anything else is gravy.
We can suck for 1 more year if there is light at the end of the tunnel. We have lived in this for 30 years:
