I've heard about contact between the Skins and Pats but not in relation to a deal to send Portis to NE.
What I heard was that IF the Bailey/Portis deal is finalized, the Skins are looking to acquire more draft picks and would trade down from the #5 slot. Supposedly, they contacted the Pats to see if they could have the two low first rounders from the Pats for the #5 pick. The answer to that was "NO". The way it stands now - I hear - is that if the Skins get the early first round pick from the Pats they will also get a 3rd round pick with it. If they take the lower first round pick they then get a second with it. Obviously, I don't have the phones bugged in the Redskins' office - or in the Pats' office - so this is third hand info at best. Of those two choices, I would prefer they take the lower first round pick and a second roung pick. But that's just me...

I think we should just stay where we are....we need help now in the secondary and if Taylor is there at 5, grab him please...if he is gone, then trade down and grab a D linemen and have some extra picks

I agree, Beg. I'm still curious who we nab in the FA market.

That makes a lot more sense. I had heard some #5 for the Pats' two first rounders rumors as well. Does anyone know which show this Portis rumor was on? |

They need to keep the 5 and draft Taylor. The Pats can shove their second or third round picks...

If its #5 for 21/32, I would entertian it. But NE would never do that, so I say just use 5 for Sean Taylor

I just saw WUSA 9 reporting on the rumor of Portis going to NE for their 1 (only 1 out of 2) and 2 rd picks.

So let me get this straight... Clinton Portis for the 21st and 64th picks in the draft?!?!?! That would be absoultey obsurd. I mean their second round pick is lower than ours was. So Essencially, we traded Champ Bailey for New Englands first round pick, if this deal was to go through. While we could have gotten a #6 from Detriot. How can anyone actually belive that. I mean break it down... we trade Champ Bailey and the 42nd pick in the draft for in the end ... the 21st and 64th pick in the draft? Are you f'n kidding me.. this thing is so bogus its not even funny.

What I have heard on this deal is that we will trade portis for the patriots 2 first round picks and Ty Law. From there we will trade our 1st round & one of their patriots 1st rounds plus Gardner to San Diego to get Fitzgerald with the 1st overall pick. but I still think it would be kind of stupid because we would still have glaring hole at running back.

Yeah, there goes Channel 9's credibility. Oh wait, they didn't have any to begin with.

In defense of channel 9 what they said was that there was speculation that Portis might be traded to New England for their 2 firsts. And with Portis it would be difficult to keep Law so he could be released and the Skins could possibly go after him

so when do the rumors start about what we are gonna do with our pick? Anybody on this site have access to sensitive info about what direction the skins are leaning for the draft?
