Yet even with losing three first rounders and the epic bust they are one of the top teams in the league. Most teams wouldn’t recover for years after that.

Also, pass on Lance. Howell has more arm talent and much better passer

we gave up a bunch to the Rams for RG3 but most of their haul turned into poop

Miami has turned their haul into gold.

49ers are so lucky that Purdy has played so well. Otherwise, they'd be completely shamed and mocked by this. But they keep winning and still ended up with a good QB (or it appears so, he hasn't played that much), so it's hard to really shit on them that much.

They seem to always get lucky on QBs even Jimmy G took them to a SB

Lucky, to some degree yes, but they kept drafting QBs even they already had two and when Garapolo finally left they signed another veteran backup even though they already had two young guys. It helps if you keep turning the backend over because sometimes you find diamonds, and the more you do it the more diamonds you find. It is why it is always worth taking chance on a QB in the late rounds of the draft, he may be nothing, he may be a starter or he may get you back a bunch of mid round picks.

Adam Schefter on X (TAFKAT)

Trade: Isaiah Simmons is being traded from the Cardinals to the NY Giants for a seventh-round pick in 2024, per source.

Re: Around the NFL training camp thread

It will cost the Giants $1m for Simmons, Cardinals giving him away, is he that bad?

Agreed . . . Purdy is a great story (even better around here as he went to high school 10 miles from my house and is good friends with one of my friends kids, I'm definitely rooting for him), but i think, at least partially he is a product of being on a loaded team. This will be a telling year for him for sure.

8th overall 1st rounder traded for a ham sandwich, I remember some saying we should draft him instead of Young.

He was always super productive in college with a pretty good cast, not SF's though. Think he'll be fine. Kid is calm and confident always. Great decision maker and has the tools to be successful.

Yep, another example of the danger of drafting "Athletes" rather than football players.
