Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
So let me get this straight...we might lose Coles, Smoot, possibly Perice and Samuels all this offseason???
Maybe someone, like Dasel, understood the article better than I do. But what do we get by releasing Coles? As far as the Cap this year, and especially next season?

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Gmanc, I think Coles' giving up his bonus may actually help us keep Smoot and Pierce
But this looks like a call for CrazyCanuck

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Do you think Coles already has a place in mind he wants to go to?

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Let's blow it up and start over in the WR department. Sounds good to me.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
This is just blowin my mind guys, WTF?!
This just blows the roof off all the offseason plans, now we HAVE to acquire a WR either through the draft or free agency, now Jacobs HAS to be ready to step up and contribute. All I can say is...wow. Damn I need a drink! |

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
He'd better be giving up the rest of his bonus so we take a minimal cap hit if at all.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
man coles suck it up and play. This sets a bad precendent that Gibbs shouldnt allow. You play in a system, not for your self. Thats what he needs to preech. This makes it ok for Portis to say he wants to be cut to. Becuase we didnt run in a style that is good for Portis, we made him do what Bugel wanted. And Taylor didnt get to play the way he wanted, he should ask to be released to. And lavar is definitly gone, we know how much he hates beign asked to go in the three point stance....

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
It's the right call for Gibbs to let him go, if he doesn't want to be here that bad he's the last kind of guy you want infecting your locker room.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
His cap number for 2005 is $3,357,142. If he is released straightup the cap hit is $9,285,710. So he has to give back at least $5,928,570 to break us even on the deal. We better be doing better than that. I don't understand why we don't just trade him? It makes no sense whatsoever to release him. If you make a handshake deal that has him give back ALL of his remaining SB and then only trade him to a team he approves of and on the condition that he can restructure with them to get some guranteed money then it works out for all. I mean we probably wouldn't get much of a deal in a trade but it is better than nothing. I am thinking like a 5th round pick. I mean at this point a 5th round pick and cap space would be better than a middle finger as he walks out the door.
