Re: John Beck Era Begins

Can't help but wonder where Beck would be if he was named starter at the beginning of the season but, something is telling me that he'd be benched just like Grossman at the same point.

Prove me wrong Beck.

Bills look weak against run and pass, and that was before Kyle Wilson was injured. I just think anything to help ease the pressure on Beck is a good idea. Sounds like he puts a ton of pressure on himself, then to add the Kyle and Mike dynamic shit I wouldn't wanna be in his shoes.

...so yeah I still say pound the rock. Not sure who should start but it probably doesn't matter. See which RB gets in a rhythm and is having the better day and then give em the pigskin 25 times.

i kinda feel the same way. i just think the bills and gailey will stay patient and go with a conservative game plan thinking after 60 mins the more talented team (bills) will be ahead on the scoreboard.

i also feel like OTM is running the warpath this morning. woot woot, a bunch of sleeping in members we got on here. yall are probably a bunch of alcoholics who are hung over. sad sacks.

on the short to intermediate routes he sometimes seems to throw a duck or inaccurate ball but sometimes he throws an accurate ball. but on those short to intermediate routes i would like a QB with limited arm strength to excel at the short stuff. he avg on short/intermediate stuff and well below avg on long balls over the top.

i also dont think he can throw/drive the ball on an out route or any route where the flight path of the ball isnt pretty much vertical.

i also dont see where beck has the ability to improve. his arm is what it is. personally i think he has small hands and has a lil trouble getting a good grip on the ball.

it just comes down to kyle calling the right plays at the right times with the understanding of what beck can and cant do. then beck needs to make the throws he should be able to make . .then maybe if we are running the ball well and our D is doing decent, we have a chance to win.
Well I appreciate your opinion. I was judging from the Carolina game and it looked good enough to make the throws with some zip but I suppose I need to see some more of him to be totally sold on his arm as strong and maybe you're right.

I wonder if we will see Rex back behind center before too long.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

John Beck is a back up. While he's receives the endorsement of Mike Shanahan, we know that he is not the long term solution at QB. He does throw the ball well. He does have the ability to scramble. But yesterday I he held the ball for too long. Even on a blitz a quarterback should be able to get the ball to a receiver in one on one coverage instead of being swallowed up by defensive rushers.

While Beck did make some good reads yesterday, he looked like a pop warner QB to me. Because of the inconsistency at QB so far this year, unless the Redskins can get it together at this position, which is the most important on the field, Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan need to be looking at the Landry Jones, Andrew Lucks, and Matt Barkleys of the world to draft in April.

If Beck screws the pooch again next week I'll bet we see Grossman vs. Miami.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

I wanted to start the season with Grossman,I was ok with the switch to Beck,I thought we could use his mobility,I wasnt expecting to take more sacks with Beck, thats been a total surprise. The seasons lost anyway so Id like to see Beck finish out the year,we know what we have with Grossman,he's played enough career games to judge him.Beck has played I think 7 games, lets sink or swim with him and see if he progresses

Beck needs to play out the rest of the season period.

Re: John Beck Era Begins

John Beck needs game experience. But when I look back at the preseason, I'm wondering why Mike Shanahan didn't keep Kellen Clemens. Clemens has not only started more regular season games than Beck, he's also better than Grossman and Beck.

Well, I'm hoping John Beck finally gets on a roll and starts playing like a legitimate NFL QB.

Would it be any worse than losing the the winless Lions a couple years ago?
