Re: Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

So supposedly this is the reason Johnson didn’t want to join, what a douche.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine reported that there were certain developments that led Johnson to choose not to join the Commanders. According to Laine, Johnson was “turned off” by the ownership of the Commanders, describing them as “basketball guys” who were overly confident in their football opinions. Additionally, there were rumors that he “didn’t interview well,” which ultimately led to the decision that it was not a good fit for both sides.

It sounds like a he said she said deal to me. Almost like Johnson is defending his choice and not interviewing well. I preferred Quinn anyway. Johnson is better suited for oc it seems like and is content there. Quinn clearly wants to be a head coach and taken a team to Super Bowl before doing it.

I think JP Findlay nailed it. This is from right after the news broke about Johnson.

What bothers me is this:

Johnson was “turned off” by the ownership of the Commanders, describing them as “basketball guys” who were overly confident in their football opinions.

Re: Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

It's his excuse to stay where he is - turn it back on the WAS owners - knowing he wasn't going to be selected.

He had a chance to redeem himself with a second interview, but apparently he wasn't confident it would change anything.

Sounds like damage limitation to me, if he wants a job next year he needs to start looking the part. Disrespecting NFL owners wont endear him to the others. They want to be respected by their coaches. Regardless his agent has to be careful as he has others he represents.

Nice insight. Based on the article, it certainly doesn't seem like Peters and the owners were locked onto Johnson at all. The fact that Peters told Raheem Morris' team that he prefers to complete the entire search process when they gave him the heads up about the Falcons job, it tells me that Peters and the owners had a clear procedure and wants to follow through with it. Quinn certainly didn't seems like he was our back up plan but an actual real candidate for us since the beginning.

the way he handled the process; we may have dodge a built

for real though; you know a team is coming to see you, at best go to a nice lunch with them see what they say and offer; then tell TBNT

he acted like a 15 year old afraid to go to his first interview at McDonalds

Re: Our New Head Coach - Dan Quinn

The hiring of Quinn and Peters gained support from Jonathan Allen, one of Washington’s defensive leaders and a player “frustrated” with the team’s direction entering the offseason.

“I haven’t met a player — and I’ve probably talked to hundreds of players who played for (Quinn) — that does not love him,” the two-time Pro Bowl selection said at a local radio event on Friday. “The thing that makes him a great coach is how he galvanizes a team and gets guys to play hard. That’s half the battle with winning.”

Let’s hope he can get Allen to play a bit harder. And Payne. And nearly everyone else.
