You make the hopeful assertion that Haskins plays at a high level. But at some point regardless of his abilities he will struggle and have to abide the coach's frustrations. If Haskins (the coaches, or other players) feels a special relation exists outside of the coach player one, it can poison the team. We as Skins fans have seen that scenario repeatedly played out with Snyder and "his player".

Yea, actually he did.

The owner empowered him to walk into Shanahan's office at the beginning of his second year and state emphatically he wasn't running certain plays anymore.

The plays he would no longer run were the ones he was best at.

They were the ones which got Pierre open by 8 yards.

The owner allowed him to be the offensive game planner only because of their relationship.

I really can't tell if you're serious or hard core trolling because it's so obvious.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

Kirk would have had unbelievable numbers in Shanahan's zone run system.

He was fired because Dan wanted a coach to develop RG3. Shanahan knew he couldn't turn him into a pocket passer which is exactly what Dan and Robert wanted to happen.

The only player the quarterback needs to have a good relationship with is his coaches, as they are the ones who are going to put him in position to succeed. Not Doug Williams, not Bruce Allen, and especially not Dan Snyder.

Did you literally learn nothing from the RG3 fiasco?
It makes no differences.

What you're doing here is creating a hypothetical to push your false narrative. Is there any verifiable evidence that Haskins and Jay Gruden don't get along? Unless you have some evidence of that then your "what ifs" are totally irrelevant. And if we got players who are ass hurt that Haskins "might" have a good relationship with the owner. Then tells me too things:

1) We have a weak ass locker room filled with a bunch of soy boys who's more focus on shit that doesn't matter instead of doing their job. We might need to replace those gossiping little girls with real men who realize they got a job to do.

2) The HC is totally incompetent and should be fired. If the qb having a good relationship with the owner can fracture your locker room then you are a total failure as a coach and your locker room needs to broken down and rebuilt.

Don't take this the wrong way. But I find it odd that you think you can tell someone who that need to have a good relationship with and who that can't. Dwayne Haskins can have a good relationship with whoever he wants. If he wants to befriend DS he is free to do that. If he dislikes Jay Gruden. That is his business. He can build a relationship with whomever he likes. As long as he shows up on game day it doesn't matter who he's friends with. It doesn't matter who likes him personally or doesn't like him. The only thing we should be concerned about is his performance. His performance is going to be determined by his work ethic and not his relationship with the owner or the front office.

Well it did happen in 2013. And the coach wasn't incompetent or a failure, he has two super bowl rings.

You're sticking up for Haskins when the concern is really about Dan. Any player's natural reaction is to reciprocate if the owner befriends him.

All of the blame for 2013 is with Dan and his enabling of Robert.

Nobody is saying or reporting anything is going on between Haskins and Dan. There are insinuations that Dan has some sort of special interest in Haskins, or relationship with Haskins.

It could be a problem if a player has more power than is healthy for the situation. Rodgers' and Brady's power dynamic is and should be different than Rosen's and Dalton's. The owner is the one person who can screw it all up.

When did I make any assertions? I said "If Dwayne Haskins plays at a high level." That is hardly an assertion. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm concerned with any of these players or the coaches punk ass feelings. If our success or failure rate depends on the players or coaches feelings then we might as well start rebuilding right now. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what any of them feel they still got a job to do. No matter what the coaches think of Haskins I fully expect them to work with him and help him become the best he can be. Regardless of what Haskins thinks of the coaches or the scheme he has a responsibility to the team to execute the offense to the best of his abilities. The same thing goes for every player on this team.

You are absolutely right. I can't argue with that. All I'm saying lets worry about problems with they occur. Right now Dan is not an issue.

A hypothetical? RG3 is an exact example of how a qb befriending an owner can lead to dysfunction. That literally already happened to this team already. I'm not even putting this on Haskins, it's on Dan to stay back. And there is no verifiable evidence Haskins and Gruden don't like each other, because they've been working together for two fucking weeks!.

When Haskins inevitably (because if you know anything about the NFL, you'd know disagreements between a coach and qb are bound to happen) gets into an argument with Gruden, I don't want Haskins feeling like he can run to the owner to complain. Gruden, and by extension all of his coaches, are the only ones who are going to put Haskins in position to succeed. Don't take this the wrong way but you're acting like we're not the Redskins, and we didn't already do this once in recent history, and the concerns here are not justifiable. We already have a fairly good idea of the hard-on Snyder has for Haskins, he needs to seek a doctor because the 4 hours has passed already.

PK redemption article...good stuff in here. Thanks for posting. One thing about Gruden, dude has had a tough go in DC and has done well in handling all the issues. I know a lot of folks have this team near the bottom next season...I think with Keenum and Haskins...and what we have added on the field, we are under the radar. Everything depends on Gruden and O'Connell improving the offense imo and that means getting better play at QB.

Great read, thanks for sharing.. I did find one small detail interesting - Gruden spoke as if he will be Redskins coach for years to come when he talked about Haskins. I'm really glad Gruden has that mindset. While I'm not biggest fan of Gruden, he did a great job of righting Redskins ship after he became Redskins coach and because of that he will always have my respect. It would be a great story if Haskins help Gruden save his job, I only hope Gruden will focus on coaching entire team and let O'Connell do his work with offense this year.

I actually believe there's a good chance of this.. Redskins is building a great defense (on paper) and we have a good RBs group, this definitely will help Haskins or Keenum greatly this year.

Re: Dwayne Haskins

I have to question something I read in that MMQB article... “Watched every game, every throw that they made, how they handled themselves under pressure,” Gruden said. Probably one of the primary question marks on Haskins coming into the NFL is his ability to play under pressure from a defense. He's excellent when getting through his progressions but awful when forced to make a quick read and get the ball out. I love the idea that Haskins was the guy the whole time, but don't BS me.. If Gruden was specifically targeting a QB who handles himself so well under pressure, I'm not sure Haskins is the guy you're going after. Also.. “They’re all pretty confident kids, bright-eyed. I was impressed with the entire class,” Gruden said. “But [Haskins] has a demeanor and aura about him, kind of similar to Cam Newton coming out, just an aura of confidence." WTF, Cam Newton looked like a man among boys. Haskins does not, at this point, have the confidence Cam Newton had coming into the league. I'm optimistic about Haskins but this article sounds like a lot of revisionist history BS to me..

^^ Unless you've talked to him how do you know what his confidence is like??

Here's an interesting question. How much did Snyder's preferential treatment of RG3 play into Cousin's not wanting to be a Redskin?
