Re: Coronavirus (non political)
They have a significant older population and they tend to live at home with family vs going into a nursing home.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)
Went to the post office to drop off a priority express envelope. I was shocked to see business as usual. I figured the clerks would all be in hazmat suits by now.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)
Beautiful place with old traditions but it is pretty much a third world country. My son-in-law is stationed in Sicily and is stuck in lock down. My daughter was there for a month and loved the place. Just talked to him this morning and he has been stuck in his apartment for almost two weeks. My daughter was suppose to go back in April but thats not happening.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)
Does anyone know anyone who is showing objective signs of coronavirus?
So far, at least for my small world, its like Coronavirus only exists on the internet when I read about it. Its weird. Schools are closed, courts are closed, restaurants closed, sports and theater cancelled, Im running out of TP and cant find any anywhere ... I have all these external indicators that things are not normal right now .... but they are. At least for me. I go to work, eat lunch, come home, make the kid some dinner, put her down, watch TV, go to bed. It hasnt effected me. I dont know anyone who has a fever. I dont see anyone looking sick in public. We as a society are doing all these previously unthought of things like cancel the NCAA Tourney and its all anyone talks about .... but where is it? Is it coming? And if so, just was is the "it"? No food? People dying outside hospitals? Forced quarantine? Perhaps Im just anxious and this is the calm before the storm. I just want to find some damn TP at this point.

At that point, the whole world was on notice and if someone or a country downplayed it, their delay to act or unwillingness to appreciate the potential danger is on them, imo.

Not wanting sick workers showing up at the Amazon warehouse where my girlfriend's son works they have suspended their attendance policies. Problem is orders are also increasing. As we all know there are plenty of people that if allowed would take a lot more days off. Now the people showing up for work are getting worked to death and morale is bad. |

Re: Coronavirus (non political)
No idea where you live but here in Central Virginia the mom & pop country stores have decent supplies of things that the big chain stores don't. Some aren't all that far off the beaten path. The closest one to me did finally run out of TP yesterday.

Re: Coronavirus (non political)
Our mail lady comes in here everyday and is wearing no protection.
On a side note I just talked to my daughter and Washington (the state) will pay her (a nurse) $5,000 a week if she will fly there and work. I told her no but she is looking at her options. |
