The contracts are irrelevant in trying to determine who's the QB2 or 3, Allen was paid based on his ERFA status which pays less than the RFA status TH had. ERFA, RFA and Washington’s quarterbacks |

I reckon their thinking went like this; TH showed well in the TB game and everyone really got behind him. If we lose out in FA and the draft we need a guy to at least start the season everyone can buy into as a potential starter. Allen got hurt badly and hadn't shown a lot to that point, but he knows the system, we know what we have in him and we need the depth at this point. We're at low exposure if we tender him as he has to sign, and if he can't come back from the ankle, then it's a minimal hit. If I'm right the clear thinking right now is Fitz is #1, TH #2, Allen #3 and Montez will either not survive camp or (as suggested) be tried out at another position. If we do draft a QB again, then they'll likely be going up against Allen for a PS spot (assuming Allen is still eligible). |

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
At least the defense is enjoyable to watch. I actually look forward to their "turn" on the field.

Taylor Heinicke thinks it’ll be “a fun battle” with Ryan Fitzpatrick

"I gotta play it fair with Taylor Heinicke, he proved he deserves a shot to compete for the starter. But Fitzpatrick will be tough to beat out."

Re: Fitzmagic Thread
I can't remember who said this, probably heard it on Sheehan's podcast, but apparently after they lost out on Stafford the conversation immediately turned to let's go get Fitzpatrick. So even though they sniffed around a few other QB's Fitz was always at the forefront of their plan.
