Watched wolf of wall street last nite - good movie but not great. Jonah Hill's character was hysterical though.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Been watching a few recent movies lately, caught Lone Survivor the other day and I thought it was good but not great. I'm sure they trimmed some good parts out but I definitely enjoyed the book more. Also just finished Twelve Years a Slave, definitely enjoyed that and highly recommend it to anyone interested in historical films.

Saw the movie Francis Ha recently, amazing amazing amazing writing.
Great movie, but damn it, it made me miss my 20s. Really great story about class, hipster generation, etc. Great dialogue. Saw Blue Jasmine too, really good typical woody allen

Trying to watch all the oscar nominees before Sunday. Last nite was American Hustle. Thought it was much better than Wolf of Wall Street. Both movies are so spun out Lol. Tonite - 12 years a slave.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I watched American Hustle, but to be honest I didn't like it that much. I though it would be really good but I was surprisingly disappointed. I definitely enjoyed Wolf of Wall Street though, I thought it was on par with the book. 12 Years A Slave is definitely great too.

it took us about a week to get through the Benjamin Button movie and the first 30 mins or so were cool, unique idea but man that movie ultimately sucked.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Maleficent was legit. I went to a late show and while there were some small children, it was mostly adults in there.
Not your typical Disney movie. It IS typical in the happy ending, etc. But the action was pretty good and Angelina Jolie was masterful, as she usually is. I saw it in 3D too, but not IMAX. Probably worth the money if you saw it on IMAX, otherwise, just skip it and do the 2D version. It's now one of my favorite movies, along with Frozen, Aladdin and The Lion King. 5/5

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Godzilla and Xmen: Days of Future Past were good. I think they did redeemed Godzilla from that monstrosity 15 years ago. Xmen I thought was a very good installment. Stay for the end of the credits to see who the next villain is going to be.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I wanted to see Godzilla because all my friends raved about it. But it looks like I might end up seeing A Million Ways to Die in the West.
I liked Ted a lot but I feel like this movie is going to be a bunch of dick and fart jokes.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Coen brothers, I have a love/not hate, but don't love, maybe I think they get too cute sometimes relationship with their films. Well just saw inside Llewyn Davis, I gotta admit, it's brilliant, but the whole time watching I was like....this isn't that great, and I don't like it. But by the end of the film you kinda get it and it's like....damn how did they do that? A serious man, Barton fink, o brother,.....and it's not all of their films that have that style to them. Just really great film
