I still think the defense in general is not playing well. Pass rushing is iffy, LBs are getting abused by TEs, and the DBs are giving up way too much yardage in the pass three games.

In the end this falls on the coaches, esp the def coordinator.

Just in case anyone is wondering Alfred Morris is on pace for 1,400 yards this year. Obviously theres ups and downs and players get tired as the season goes on especially rookies who are use to shorter college season but it's still worth noting.

All that said, I said before and I'll say again that I'd rather they had gone all out to get Carr from KC this off-season rather than Morgan, even Winston. I think you mask poor OL play much easier than you can mask poor DB play
I was on your boat too about that.

I'm going to look at FA's and make a thread for guys we can target next year.

You know what cracks me up the most about our team.

The fact that we can never be good at both offense AND defense.

Its like its a requirement to be good at one and bad at the other.

I agree about the DBs, but for me, it's mostly coaching. I just feel like our playcalls have terrible timing. When we blitz, it's like we pick the worst possible formation to do it in. I understand you can't always predict what the other team is going to do, but sometimes they should have a defensive audible. I like the aggressiveness, but when it's 2nd and 20, I don't care if it's 3rd and 30, just make them punt!

I think this type of defense is very dependent upon getting pressure up front. If you don't get pressure up front, you are going to be F'd.

If you look back at the Patriots when they were winning Super Bowls, you noticed their defense was incredible at the point of attack and LBs. It's a main reason why BB hasn't paid huge money to DBs, and a big reason why he let Asante Samuel walk. Vrabel, Seymour, Bruschi, McGinest, Coolvin, Johnson have all been beasts. The only DB to note on those squads is Ty Law, and Harrison was at the end of his career. I've always thought AS was overrated even back in NE. He jumped routes all the time and capitalized.

Right now, we simply aren't getting the pressure we need to up front and it shows.

Even without his signing, would our cap room allowed for us to be able to make that type of acquisition? Having that 18 mil stole from our cap was crucial.

I can see that to a certain extent. Who do you think is the weak link? I only ask because we had a ton of sacks last year with essentially the same group.

If anyone needs to go, it's Morris. Our secondary is the only problem on defense.

We have no pass rush because we play 10yards off the receivers. There is nothing to disrupt the timing. A 0.5sec jam would make a huge difference with pressure.

The big catches are a result of a free release.

It was crazy to think that the secondary put together in the offseason could be anything other than terrible. I love RG3 but the fact that we can't pick up a top corner or Tackle the next two years in the first round hurts. The NFL cap penalty also is really going to hurt us in picking up quality vets to fix this problem... Eff Goodell and Mara.

Because 12 hours before free agency started, we were hit with a 35 million dollar salary cap penalty.

Can we please establish the bootleg game, move the pocket or something other than run the shit out of our QB we spent 3 first round picks on? Just saying
