I would go so far as to say he absolutely would have won this game in the fourth. So dumb to say it doesnt matter - yeah because based on what we have seen he would have missed a wide open miss and thrown at least two picks. Oh my god!?!

Perhaps. But I think even before the injury it was RG3's worst performance of the season. Unless they went Jordan Triangle in the 4th, I'm not sure Griffin would have been the reason for the win

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

i agree Griff needs to run out of bounds when there is no chance to get the first or TD, but from our view weather it be on tv or at the actual game we see much more than what his point of view is, I agree he needs to go out of bounds more but there is a very thin line between when you know and dont know if you can make a play and get the first or td especially when you are running as fast as these guys.

I agree with you that he needed to step out of bounds or throw it away on that play but I disagree that "controlling the impulse" to make a play is the way correct it.

I actually like his impulse to make a play - I think he just needs to get better at PROTECTING himself. Yes, get out of bounds, throw the ball away, slide, etc. instead of getting that 1 extra yard. But definitely keep your impulse to make a play.

Up to that point Ryan was totally off his game. But you knew he'd get his head straight at some point and we'd lose (regardless of RG3's injury).

Once again we we're soundly outcoached in all phases of the game. The league has completely got Kyle's number unless he puts the game in RG3's hands.

After five games there are three resounding facts that any honest, intelligent observer has to make:

1) This defense is garbage compared to the one Mike and Bruce inherited.

2) Our best downfield targets are guys Mike and Bruce inherited. As I've said since the end of last season, Fred Davis is our best target and Moss second, though the way Kyle and maybe RG3 as a consequence force the ball toward other WRs, namely Garcon, our best WR isn't getting much work. Garcon just isn't very good.

3) And most importantly, the Skins are still far and away the worst team in the division.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it has gotten almost ridiculous to come here (I won't even go in to ES) and read posts defending the Shanahans, or anything about the current regime. These guys (not the players) are losers, in every sense of the word.

We have RG3, but to save him we've got to get a real coaching staff and FO in place.
It sure is starting to seem like it. I mean they traded up for rg3. That is kind of a no brainer after rex/beck. We made a deal and got rg-3 Great. It sure is starting to appear thAt alot of other personnel decisions were just bad. If rg-3 doesnt play next week we Are going to see a real disaster of a team. A disaster of a team that is the brain child of shanallen. I know im going to hear every excuse in the world now about well if this guy wasnt hurt or this guy had just done this or its not the coaches fault that such in such was this and that. Of course shanny didnt miss a 31 yard fg. No but shanny chose the dude who did to be our kicker. Josh morgan and pierre garcon - thats where we spent our money? Oh wait josh morgan is an awesome blocker!?! I do not believe this team is ready to win next year. I really dont. Our defense is light years away. Our receivers are not that good. We have no kicker and our punter is not good either. We have very questionable depth on our o-line and absolutely no talent at rt. Thanks for alfred morris. Shanny could be a special running back scout. Lol. Call me debbie downer. Call me ignorant. Call me whatever you want. Coaching staff has to go. Now bring on the tongue lashing i am about to receive because it helps you vent your own frustration without having to bad mouth your team. Im a big boy. I can handle it.

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

I put a lot of today's game on the play calling on offense. In hindsight it may seem nuts but there had to be at least 4 or 5 times they cold have called the keeper off of the stretch on third and short and there was a ton of open field. Not converting on third downs was a killer all game.

Another big piece of my blame goes to Mike and Bruce. If by now they haven't been able to replace Reed Doughty it is a failure on their part. I know he's a backup safety but he's a bad one. He is simply a liability whenever he gets on the field. It's not his fault that he gets put in positions that he is not capable of performing in. He doesn't belong on an NFL roster. Same thing with our kicker situation and the RT position. Utter failure on all three counts. Inexcusable that we haven't had a reliable kicker since Moseley. Polumbus was awful, simply awful all season. It was negligent to resign Jammal Brown last season. They should have addressed this by now. It's been since about 2006 when Jansen was still healthy when this position wasn't a huge problem for this team.

I've been a Shanny backer but said at the season outset that my judgement starts this season and today wasn't a good day for him.

It was ATLs gameplan to kill the clock and keep RGIII on the sidelines. ATL knew the big play was there for the taking but, instead used a ball control offense to limit the Skins touches. RGIII attempted less than 20 passes. Ryan attempted over 50. Consequently, the game was close. Skins settled for not opening up the passing attack on first and second downs. Take that in consieration that they've been terrible on 3rd down all year. I said it before and maybe I cannot express it the best way but, the Skins showed their hand operating out of the I-formation so much. RGIII is handcuffed not operating out of the spread formations. Any QB is.

I didn't use the word dumb, or moron or any of the others I've seen from the Shanahan apologists. That said, I absolutely stand by the post, hands down, no questions.

Hadn't even read the thread when I posted but as I go back through it's pretty telling that no one else pointed out how bad the Falcons, particularly Ryan, were up to the 4th quarter. Ryan hasn't been that inaccurate since his rookie season.

Again, this is not a serious football team, because we don't have a serious coaching staff or front office, and that simply has everything to do with Mike Shanahan. His goofy kiddo makes it worse, but obviously Kyle wouldn't be here if Mike wasn't. Mike's the problem. We won't be a winning team until he's gone. But I won't stop being a fan because I know this to be true. That's not how it works.

Im not seeing that. Goat is unhappy with the shanahans. He is saying he cant stand people getting their backs every time they lose ( which is alot). He made the statement than an intelligent observer must see points a b and c? Im not sure where i see him calling anyone names or stupid? Hes pleading his case thats all?

Many of his passes, even the completions, didn't look accurate. He was throwing low, throwing behind receivers. If I were to lay the smack down...RG3, Kyle Shanahan, Cundiff, and Madieu Williams would get it

But it just seems that Mike doesn't surround himself with the type of staff that is solid. I have said this before, but the game might have passed him by a bit, because in 14 calander years, I believe that an NFL head coach with his "history" should have had more than 1 playoff win. The defense is offensive, but there is hope with RG3. Its funny that the one game he quits using him as a second running back is the game he gets the shit knocked out of him, and gets knocked out of the game. That lad needs to know the situation, and understand that the extra two yards he got on that scramble was not worth that hit. Especially when you are trying to get an extra few yards for billy cundiff, who is gonna fvck it up no matter where the ball is on the field, 25 yards away or 55.
Solid post. I too see the positives Shanahan has given us, but I realize his own negatives (as a talent evaluator, HC) will always, always trump what he brings to the table.

I don't know how you come to your conclusions. Not a serious football team, goofy kiddo. I really don't get it. But whatever, it's your opinion.
