Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

People that park their cars in the drive way so that part of the car blocks the sidewalk. I hate that when I am running and then I am forced off of public property and into the road or worse when I am pushing my child in the jogger or biking with my elder kid. I usually just run or bike through their yard if they are that inconsiderate.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

I play in a pick up basketball league once a week. There is this one dude, who calls EVERYTHING a foul. You breathe on him, its a foul. God forbid you actually foul him, he loses his shit.

Then as I'm going up for a lay-up, he just hacks the shit out of me.

It was bearable the first few weeks, but I'm reaching my breaking point. Time to start throwing some bows.

Rob, was this guy actually any good? In our lunch-time group, we have seem to ALWAYS have someone like that and it's usually the worst player.

I know it's really petty, but I swear it makes people realize how big of an ass they're being on the highway. And it's definitely safer than a break check.
Ahh, excellent. Without getting into it further, you know that I (and probably Schneed).

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

Good afternoon sir.

In keeping with the thread, another thing that grinds my gears is having employees that finish an advanced degree and instantly come into my office asking for a raise.

Am I being a douche or being reasonable? This particular employee's resume hasn't exactly been stellar. He went today to meet with our CTO because he is "unhappy with his career trajectory". Just because you suddenly have a Master's entitles you to nothing.

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

OK, thanks. I thought I was being rational, but sometimes I need other opinions.

This particular guy is someone who should be really careful considering he NEEDS this job if he wants to continue to have a relationship with his son. Just went through a rough divorce and I've been more than reasonable with his time. The other day he straight up just said "no" to something I asked him to do. I'm like, "I need to take a break from you because I am not going to speak to you irrationality because I am extremely angry at you."

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

Know tons of book smart people that can't survive in the real world.

I mean it's amazing that he got his Master's, but there is ZERO on paper proving to anyone in my department why he deserves a raise. He's like, "Here's a diploma. Give me $$$".

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

Set up gotomypc, for 2 quickbook computers that our remote people use (remote people = owner, owner's wife, owners daughter in 3 different states LOL). In order to have any type of effective account management and access control you have to get a corporate account, not the "pro" account that lets you have 2 computers with unlimited users all using one account login. Stupid...
