Why can't we change thread titles?
I left out a word in the title of a thread I just created. I can edit the title, but it doesn't change the main title (just the bold title at the top of the post). Is this how it is intended to work?

Took care of it for you. Only the moderators can edit thread titles. Just let us know and one of us will take care of it asap.

Re: Why can't we change thread titles?
I think mods only is a good way. There is a balance to be had in terms of freedom versus control on a site like this. It is nice to have a consistent presentation with some strict standards that are enforecable and don't keep the mods busy 24/7. Users being able to change thread titles would just be a another headache for the mods to control.

Re: Why can't we change thread titles?
Is there any way to allow changes as long as there are no replies? That would seem to maintain the balance - people couldn't randomly change titles, but mods wouldn't have to clean up after idiots like me.

Re: Why can't we change thread titles?
Looks like you can set a timeout:
how to allow member to edit their thread title? - vBulletin Community Forum 5 minutes would seem like a good compromise to allow people to realize their silly typos without bothering the mods. That said, if the preference is to have the mods do it, then that's your call of course.

Re: Why can't we change thread titles?
sure I don't care, maybe it will help reduce the number of threads the mods end up fixing due to spelling errors

Re: Why can't we change thread titles?
Thanks - I like it! Just botched (yet another) title, and fixed it myself!

I know, how embarrassing . I scanned the "New Posts" page, but didn't see it. No excuses - I'll take my scarlet letter.
