I watched the game today in a sports bar in Palo Alto, California. 3/4 of the place were in Steelers jerseys waving towels and ringing cowbells whenever they got a first down. Chatted with the folks at the next table - super nice, actually. They haven’t had a losing season in 18 years. That will get you lots of fans everywhere.

Jd5 without brob is a issue

Re: Commander vs. Steelers GameDay Thread

I think Wylie being out was a bigger issue. They had to constantly chip Watt AND slide over extra help and that just takes away from what you can otherwise do on offense. Wylie still would have needed help, but probably not quite as much as Scott. And I’m not second guessing the added help - JD5 would have lost his spleen today without it. But BRob and Wylie going out (and Lucas being out) is a lot to overcome against a team like Pittsburgh.

A strong running game is a QB's best friend. I was pretty surprised that Rodriguez didn't get much action today.

But the blocking was either great or a huge missed assignment that set us back multiple yards. Negative plays are such a killer. Especially with a rookie QB against a very good defense.

Yeah that helps with the fan base. Thing is, Pittsburgh hasn’t won a Superbowl since 2008, last appearing in 2010 where they lost to Aaron Rodgers. Steelers haven’t had a playoff win since 2016. They have 6 of their division games left and the Chiefs and Eagles. We’ll see how they finish and how they fare in the tough afc playoffs. Russell did just enough but he didn’t look great today.

I agree with all this. But a winning culture breeds loyalty. Hopefully, 18 years from now, our fans will irritate the shit out of everyone by dominating away game stadiums.

Dan Snyder’s era destroyed the fan base. It’s going take a few years of success for things to get back to Gibbs 1 days. We are off to a good start. Baring a complete collapse, playoffs still seems likely. For year 1 of rebuild, looking good.

They'll be one-and-done in the playoffs. But I do hope they beat the Eagles.

A winning culture also breeds bandwagoners.
