2013 Merion

I grew up one block from Merion, caddied there, and played there on the high school golf team (it was our home course). Headed there today, not sure if I've ever been as excited to attend a sporting event.

Everyone is surprised the players haven't scored better. It's short, it's wet and soft, wind hasn't been bad, it should be ripe. But I've been on those greens, there are so many putts that look like they'll break right, but they don't. Or so many that look like they're dead center, but they break left.

So great to see Phil in the lead and Tiger and Rory within striking distance. I know we have some golf fans, enjoy the US Open.

Re: 2013 Merion

That was the greatest sporting event I've ever been to. My wife 'woo girled' Rory McIlroy from about 20 feet away and he looked right at her and tipped his cap. And somehow I'm the one that came away with the bigger crush. Also stood closer to Phil than any other spectator on the course when he hit that 270 yard hybrid into the 18th green. Time of my life.

I usually attend this event....nowhere near the Open. BUT I really love watching the pros in person. It reminds me what golf is....supposed to look like
