We all need to realize that its not that BA is the new GM, its that VC is no longer the GM . Lets be honest, VC was probably going to ignore the OL again this upcoming draft, so right there, we have hope and progress.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
You know, people are saying Bruce Allen wouldn't have been their first choice. I really don't know what that means, actually. What other viable choices were available? The truly coveted GMs are gainfully employed and still with their respective organizations as far as I'm concerned. And the Redskins never suffered from having a bad GM; We suffered from not having a GM at all! So in that regard, this is an excellent football move/decision. I really don't view this in terms of multiple choices available to Snyder. It was, however, a great personnel move.
Why can't we leave it at that. I guess if we looked at this in terms of draft picks, one by one, you could come to some conclusion about Allen. But what GM has that type of autonomy? Where the GM has absolute control with no input on who's drafted and who's not? That's not how the NFL operates, I don't care who the GM is. Anyway, this is damn good day to be a Redskin fan. I think Allen has a strong sense of Redskins tradition, the city, he's fiery and passionate, and he fully understands what's at stake here. Now let's get Jason Campbell signed and kick some Giant ass on Monday night. |

Personally I don't buy in to that. Early on I think he was probably too involved, but I think especially over the last 2 years he took a backseat to Vinny. Did he have input? Yeah no doubt. But was he the backroom GM pulling all the strings and Vinny was just doing what he was told? Doubt it. |

On Redskins.com it is saying that Bruce Allen is the General Manager and also has the title of Vice President....
So this should end the debate of whether or not he is really GM

The people that are bitching about this remind me of Walters Wife. They have to bitch for the hell of it.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
I can't believe that I have been waiting 9 years for Snyder to fire Vinny and hire a real GM and now he finally does and instead of rejoicing some people on here are complaining about his choice and claiming that the new GM is another "yes man". Unbelievable...
I have never said this in my life but for one day can we get off Dan Snyders back?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Cerrato resigns (Bruce Allen hired as VP/GM) - merged
I am glad VC is gone. With that said, I thought he did have some solid personnel moves. His real problem was that he was all about Vinny - cross him and he just got petty. His presser ignoring Zorn (actually, thumbing his nose at Zorn by mentioning Blache and Lewis but nary a word on JZ) is just the latest example. Ultimately, this just breeds spite and infighting as employees/players jockey for position or worry more about covering their ass then the bottom line - winning.
Allen, hopefully, will get the team aspect - he certainly seems to based on his statements and past performance. If the attitude can change, the FO focuses on a long term plan, and the players buy into it, Allen can be a very good GM for us for a very long time.

There's no debate. Did you see the presser when Snyder introduced Allen? He also addressed that head on when asked about Allen's title.
