Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
I'd consider Brissett if we don't draft our guy. He did OK before Rivers came in and he's mobile, which sets him apart from Haskins!
I'd be surprised if more than 1 or 2 of the top WR FA's are actually available, but I'd definitely take Robinson if the Bears don't sign him. I can see Godwin being available especially if TB extend Brown, but is he that much better than Sims as #2? While I doubt David will be leaving TB if he is available I'd go after him. Thinking that if we could sign 3 or 4 of the above, then draft could focus on QB, OL, another LB and DB. SD's 1st mock looks pretty good in that case 3: R1 P3 - OT Penei Sewell - Oregon 35: R2 P3 - LB Micah Parsons - Penn State 67: R3 P3 - QB Kyle Trask - Florida 78: R3 P14 - S Caden Sterns - Texas There's talk elsewhere in here about TE but if Henry was available I'd snap him up. Not sure there's anyone else on that list I'd offer big money to though. |

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
No thanks to Brissett, there is a reason why Colts replaced him with a different QB. We need to start fresh with QB by drafting one if we have the opportunity. Although now there's news coming out that the team wants Smith to come back next year. If Smith continues to play well for rest of the season, I would give him one more chance next year and have him mentor the rookie QB at the same time (i.e., Mahomes's rookie year).
Cam Sims isn't even close to Godwin's level, I would love to sign Godwin or Robinson although I'm not sure if both would want to come to WFT. I'm sure they will want to play for a SB contender team unless they are looking for a big contract. I would give Godwin a big contract, not Robinson. I used to like Hunter Henry and I wanted WFT to sign him before Chargers tagged him, but now I'm not sure anymore - he seems like he cannot stay healthy for full season. I would absolutely love for WFT to sign Jonnu Smith! Smith is underutilized by Tenn, he has the talents and great with running after catches. I would choose Smith over every other available TEs. As for defense, the only players I would go after is Lavonte David or Justin Simmons. I don't see any other FA defense players we should go after. We can attack this area in draft and UFA. Keep Alex Smith, draft Devonta Smith, WR Alabama to put beside Terry.

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
He's up there too but I think you could grab him in the 2nd or 3rd.. A lot will change of course after the combine.
Forgot Micah Parsons from PSU.. He's a stud

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
Saw a mock draft where the Giants, ahead of us, took a QB in Round 1.
Jones hasn't been great.

It's not out of the question. Judge didn't draft Jones, but I don't see that as a very likely scenario. He's been ok a year and a half into it, other than the turnovers, which seem to have subsided of late. He's still young, and likely who they are going to build around.

The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
In FA the team should spend the money to get Allen Robinson. The McLaurin / Robinson tandem would be freaking awesome. Then we’d have Cam Sims and Harmon vying for the slot WR. That really fixes the WR hole and gives us a formidable WR group for Alex Smith.
The first draft pick should go for our future QB - BYU’s QB (?). Alex Smith is playing well, but he’s living on borrowed time. His last act in the NFL, as a player, will be to mentor the team’s new franchise QB, next season. The second draft pick should go for the OL. There are several hard decisions coming up this offseason in FA: Scherff vs Rouiller, or Allen vs Payne. I’d put the team’s money on Allen and Scherff. The team needs to be judicious with the FA money and not get bogged down with a bunch of very high salaries. Right now the worst salary hit we have is the very high Collins salary. Dumping Collins may be too tough next season (cap hit), but he has NOT earned his salary. Just like Van Norman, the Collins contract was a typical Daniel Snyder special: raising hope in the attempt to “win the off-season”. Well, Rivera is changing the team’s culture and as long as we keep Kyle Smith and prevent Snyder from drafting players on his own, our player pool will get better! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
I really like Curtis Samuel to compliment Terry over Robinson. He’s gonna be more affordable and a little younger.
Take that saved money and put towards another need or resigning our own

Re: The Too Soon 2021 NFL Draft Thread
The point is that the team needs to use FA to get an elite WR. The younger the better. But he has to be on a level to take the pressure off MacLaurin. So no journeyman WR, we need to a player in the excellent to outstanding level. This is where to spend the money. This should be the first priority in FA.
Another FA choice is to get a good TE. Another tough decision will be to bring in a kicker FA for a competition next TC. The draft will be used first for the QB, then the OL. If Kyle Smith is the GM, he has been able to bring in rookie STARTERS from the lower draft picks. Keep it up!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
