SS-

Agree with your take on how we should have helped him in this game.
Disagree with the pick though. I was not impressed with him when i watched him in college. Just my opinion.

All I care about right now is Griffins status.

But the pick wasn't for us to use him long-term, it was for us to trade him 2 or 3 years down the road and potentially get a high 1st or 2nd round pick. I can't argue with that logic.

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

Posted this on the other thread.

Our defense did outstanding today all things considered.

Time of possession:

Atlanta- 36:50

Washington- 23:10

Third Down Conversions

Atlanta- 9-17

Washington- 1-9

This loss is ALL on the offense. Dropped passes. Failed executions on 3rd down, inaccurate throws and not understanding when to slide or throw away the ball.

Offensive line did a good job as well. I put more of this loss on the skills players than anybody else.

Also, a big FU to Cundiff.

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

Kirk Cousins had a 97 QB rating for a half in his first NFL game (coming off the bench cold too), and THIS is what we are bitching about?

Kirk played better than RGIII today.

To clarify, I loved that they drafted a QB. Probably would have preferred Foles over Cousins, but he wasn't available. And I don't have anything against Cousins. But I knew during the Senior Bowl that they had (mainly Mike) fallen in love with Cousins and so I was prepared for us to take him, even with RG3.

Atlanta is a better team than we are. We can complain about certain things but bottom line is they're a better team and the better team won. But we must cut Cundiff tonight and get some kickers in here tomorrow.

Dude has to be smarter if he's going to survive. He can talk all that "tough guy" bullshit all he wants in front of the camera, but he can ask Vick first hand what not sliding or throwing a ball away will do to your career. Already hurt within 5 games of his first season.

Maybe we need to bring back Zorn for the sliding drill.

That is probably up for debate but either way if i personally thought he wasnt that good than im not going to think
1)he is a longterm serviceable backup
Or
2)he is ever going to be worth more than what we gave up for him

Again just my opinion. Seems like alot of people have a higher opinion of cousins than me. Which has little to do with today - tough spot for your first action - i havent been fond of his skills since his college days. Personally i had no problem what so ever with rex as a backup.

Qb rating? Looks like a number, not a W.

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts

Positives:

1. No moral victories, but team showed alot of heart.
2. Alfmo
3. Kerrigan
4. Big time play by Santana
5. Thought the Oline played maybe their best game
6. Banks had some good returns
7. Haslett brought a decent game plan, Kudos to the defense. Matty Ice had to throw the ball a ton to get those yards.

Negatives:
1. Been several times where RG3 should have thrown the ball away and takes a vicious hit. Well it caught up with him today, hopefully he has learned.
2. Garcon just had a couple miserable drops.
3. Billy Cundiff.
4. 3rd down conversions and Red Zone offense not good today. 3rd down is officailly a huge problem.
5. Didnt get enough pressure on the Ryan on 3rd downs. Orakpo absence hurts us the most in 3rd down.

Cant hang the head, just gotta realize the mistakes, learn and comeback ready to play next week. I think more positives than negatives

Exactly, with or without RG3 we weren't winning this game today.
