Proposal for National ID (Acronym: BELIEVE)

Having the debate about a national ID is one thing, but to call the program BELIEVE is highly cynical at best, and Orwellian at worst.
ACLU blasts national ID card proposal - UPI.com

Quote:
Senate Democratic leaders Thursday revealed an outline to reform U.S. immigration laws, including a proposal requiring workers to carry a national card with biometric data, such as fingerprints, within six years.

The American Civil Liberties Union ripped the ID card program, called "Believe," an acronym for Biometric Enrollment, Locally-stored Information and Electronic Verification of Employment, The Hill reported Friday.
We already have the "RealID" Legislation, does anyone really Believe in this path?

Also, the cynic/conspiracy theorist in me finds it interesting that we have had the Believe campaign in inner cities for a while, then Pres Obama ran on Believe, and now, Believe represents a national ID system that is seemingly very intrusive.

Re: Proposal for National ID (Acronym: BELIEVE)

As of right now every legal immigrant has to submit biometric data. A green card has complete biometric data so I am not sure if this is any different. Honstly, this isn't as bad as it is made out to be.

As of national ID for citizens, well, I have a passport so I guess I'm fine with that being my national ID. If they want to have another national ID I'm fine with that too but it should be optional and all states must accept it as a form of ID.

If you arrange the letters on the dollar bill, translate them to their greek form, then transpose them into latin backwards and fold the bill in half twice,
it spells BELIEVE in Summerian cuneiform.

The illuminati strike again.

The illuminati need to keep their eyes out of our government:

Isnt everyone required to submit their fingerprints, if they are legal immigrants? Dont see what is wrong here.

I've been fingerprinted, to get clearance for government related projects so i dont really care about the fingerprinting.

Re: Proposal for National ID (Acronym: BELIEVE)

I don't like this proposal for the sole reason that I'd have to trust the Government with even more personal data on me...not that they don't have it already, but this would make it easier for them to access it.

All that needs to be done is simple enforcement of existing immigration laws. We do not need to burden those here legally, just go after those who aren't. This is another attempt to be too friendly to those who are breaking the law and aren't supposed to be here.

I think everyone should have to give finger prints and a DNA sample so whenever we have a crime we can trace it down alot quicker.

Surprising statement from someone so far to the right. Your plan would give Big Brother a lot of ammo.

I was joking. They do keep DNA of criminals but not sure when its done. I had to get finger printed to get my series 6 lic. to sell investment products. Mutural fund type products not stocks as that requires another lic.. I don't sell them but I have a partner who does and for me to get production credit I must be lic.

Kleindorfer is a Las Vegas resident and was making the flight to Salt Lake City with a friend. That friend told police he slept through the incident.

I'll not get one. The tighter they squeeze, more power slips through their fingers.
