RIP Kevin Duckworth

Bullets fans might remember him the way most Redskins fans would remember say Mark Brunell...with disdain, but Duck was integral to a key Blazers team in the 80s/early 90s. I used to love watching that team back in the day with Drexler, Porter, and Kersey.

RIP. Way too young

ESPN - Kevin Duckworth, former Trail Blazer, dies at 44 - NBA

Re: RIP Kevin Duckworth

I'm surprised no one has commented on this all day. I guess we are old enough to remember him while others were born around the time he was playing.
I always thought he was untapped potential. I thought he could have been a beast, but for whatever reason, didn't realize his potential.

All in all, way too young. What a shame. Not a bad player at all.

Re: RIP Kevin Duckworth

to be honest.....it's cause he didnt leave alot to remember....except getting bigger every year in the league......he was very overrated, more because his size........ he probably died to early.....but im betting it was some health issue..........IMO

Re: RIP Kevin Duckworth

Saw this on the ticker last night. Wikipedia has a citation saying he had a heart attack...what a shame.

While he was no Superstar, he was definitely a good player in the league. Averaged 12 and 6 during his career. 2 Time NBA All-Star, and made the finals with Portland in 1990.

Here's to The Duck...

Wow. I remember rooting against him as Jordan played the Blazers in the Finals.

With disdain? .. Come on. He's the only QB in years that got us to the second round of the playoffs. Give me a break.

What he's saying is most fans didn't appreciate MB.

Disdain means scorn and contempt...

Re: RIP Kevin Duckworth

Here I am posting about the unfortunate early death of Kevin Duckworth...and of course, hess takes it an attack on Brunell.

What I was trying to say, was simply that a lot of people here think of Mark Brunell and think only of the struggles he had as a Redskin and ignore the great career he had with the Jaguars before joining the Redskins. The same could apply to Duckworth and Bullets fans, forgetting what he did with the Blazers beforehand.

It wasn't a good comparison.

RIP Duckworth.

Re: RIP Kevin Duckworth

Fine "some Redskins fans." Way to completely miss the point of the thread Hess. Next time I'll just say "Duckworth Dead" and leave it at that
