Winter 2011-2012 Thread!
I wanted to post this to get us started on the winter weather thread for 2011-2012, not sure if a thread like this already exists, so if so, please merge/delete, etc...
My wife and I woke up at 6:00 this morning and found it snowing to beat the band! We already have 4+ inches on the ground here right now and its still supposed to snow until 8PM or so tonight. Weather is calling for 6-8 inches, so we are right inline with that. It's crazy to me because I am 27 years old and I can't remember in my entire life having this much snow on the ground 2 days before Halloween. Come to think of it I can't even remember any snow flurries or showers on Halloween or before. We thank god still have power, but over 3,300 residents in our region are without power due to downed limbs, power poles, etc.. I went to visit my dad this morning (love driving around in my 4X4 jeep and pickup ) and seriously in the span of about 15 minutes we saw the next door neighbor lose 3 huge limbs that cracked off and fell to the ground. Hope everybody is safe wherever you all are and if there are other people that live in my vacinity (Winchester, Harrisonburg, Leesburg, etc...) whats the weather doing where you are and whats it like??

I hate winter.
I like the desert. I'd like to retire there but that will never happen. These pictures are at my house and are a couple years old but they are typical of our winters here in west Michigan. On Lake Michigan a few miles from my house.

Re: Winter 2011-2012 Thread!
The last time we had a big storm this early in the year was in 1987, I remember it well, power lines down everywhere, and we had a few days off from school. I don't think this one will be as bad, but snow this early definitely sucks and isn't a good sign of things to come.

It is a closed stadium. Also, got a few flakes here in NoVa but nothing stuck and it's been constant rain otherwise.
Personally I hate the snow, as the car I drive is not suited for it, but ever since I went snowboarding I've wanted to do it again, so snow has its plusses and minuses. Looking forward to going again in a couple months.

Actually its both.....retractable roof.
I've been there but there was no event going on. They have a Hard Rock Cafe in there with huge windows. We went up there and had a few beers and looked at the field.

Oh ok, I didn't know that. Either way I'd assume it's going to be closed tomorrow, due to the game being in the afternoon, and it's probably cold up there too.

I'm not gonna sit here and pretend to give a shit about the weather patterns in Toronto for a game in a retractable roof stadium, so thanks for the memo.

Mercury dipping to 64 tonight. I'll have to break out my winter flip flops.
Incredible to get a storm like that in the NE so early.......

Re: Winter 2011-2012 Thread!
I sat through almost the entire horrible (if you're a Terps fan) Maryland game today. When we finally gave up and left with about 8 minutes to go in the 4th I literally couldn't feel my fingers. I thought I was pretty well prepared clothing-wise but it was just such a ridiculous combo of snow, rain, and cold that I didn't stand a chance.
