Midterm Election Game day Thread
Cred was hesitant I think because of the last game day thread he started, so I'll do it.
I do not think we will see a "blue wave" at the national level if it happens it will be at the local level. I am far more interested to see governor races and state houses play out. Also initiatives like voter id laws (imo biased), same day registration, in Maryland casino revenue, and of course pot. On the national level I think I believe the narrative the most dems make subtle gains in the house and lose seats in senate. |

The blue wave will mostly be the governor races. I will find it interesting to see if the polling uncovered the reluctant Trump voter or if there still were a large number of inaccurate polls based on reluctance of respondents to be counted. I think where you see large undecided numbers those races will swing toward Trump voters. Where polls are 50 49 or very few undecided, I think you will see Dems win. I also think that the Dem numbers are likely very accurate on polls, as their base is not only motivated but very outspoken toward pollsters. Conversely a significant portion of the Rep base has the basic distrust of polls and pollsters. If there is even a 4% "hidden" poll error, a lot of the tossups go quickly to Republicans. On this same side, I think the exit polls will skew the same way, as liberals will wear their votes on their sleeves, and many conservatives will withhold comment. |

Re: Midterm Election Game day Thread
Blue wave my ass. I have no faith in my generation to show up.
I work for Fairfax County, the shop I worked at today is a polling place. I come in at 5:30 this morning and our normal parking lot was already half full with people waiting. I was inside and outside all day and all fucking day the parking lot was full with a line of people in the lobby. And do you know how many millenials I saw? There was 10 old people for every young person I saw. Literally saw 3 retirement community buses show up full of old people to go vote. As long as it stays like this the left has no chance. Kids are too fucking stupid these days. Congratulations to President Trump, the fear mongering apparently did a hell of a job mobilizing his voter base. |

honestly though, retirement homes have long, like unions, been solid Democrat supporters. I doubt they were voting Republican in Fairfax... |

I don't want to draw any conclusions based on my own personal experience, but the image of the Trump supporter is a pretty acknowledged one. Anyways, in light of the fact Kaine won reelection and Comstock got voted out, it seems the left showed up for nova. |

Part of the reason why the stereotype of a Trump supporter or Republicans in general all look the same is that when people that are not the stereotype actually are right leaning they get lambasted. The paper in this case handled it right, but you see this type thing quite often. I could imagine its very difficult for non white people on the right to actually share their beliefs because they get branded traitors.

Also I don't want to give Breitbart a click but FYI you can find that story on much more reputable websites. Believe it or not that partisan hack MSNBC had it as one of their leads yesterday afternoon. |
