Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Guess that cements the fact we'll be drafting a WR. This is a disaster...

Is that even POSSIBLE from a cap standpoint?

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
It will be interesting to see how much of his bonus he gives back and what the Redskins do with the money.
What I don't get is why is it better to waive him than trade him? I guess it's because he wouldn't return part of his money otherwise.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
He is giving back part of his bonus to alleviate cap concerns. That is how much he wants out. He is actually going to pay the Redskins to release him. The NFLPA is going to crap a brick. I am crapping a Buick as we speak.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
After reading the article I have much more insight... Wow - he thinks Gibbs offense is THAT bad. That's not a good preliminary report for next year.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
If Coles wants to be part of a "vertical offense" he could join Norv in Oakland....so is a Coles for Porter trade possible?
I don't even know what to think of Coles right now, but hopefully this means more playing time for Taylor Jacobs.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Is he goign to also give us a first round draft choice back?!?!? How can they just give in to his wants like this. hes signed, paid for, healding and producing. Make him suck it out and tell him he will get the deep ball. What the heck

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
Coles thinks Gibbs' offense in 2004 was bad for him, but even Gibbs has said he's going to open it up next year

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
This really concerns me not just from the standpoint of our WR situation but more from the standpoint that this is totally ludicrous coming from Coles. He 100% does not seem like the guy who would do this. Obviously we never really KNOW these guys but I think you can get a good insight into their personalities based on their level of effort and their tenacity. It just doesn't fit. So what the hell is going on here? What is SO BAD that he wants out enough that Gibbs thinks it's the best thing to do? I mean what did Gibbs tell him that they would probably draft a WR to be their #1 and Coles rightfully said screw off? Man this is craziness I tell you.

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
At least he did it in a respectful manner. Didn't go through the media - tryed to do it quietly and without problem. I gave the guy crap about his injury, but I'm really going to miss him!
Could this mean a possible trade for Moss? He'd come a lot cheaper if we sent Coles... Just a thought. None of the FA receivers impress me - neither do many in the draft. Edwards, Williams, and Williamson (SC dude) all have possibilties. The worst thing is - said the Cowboys are in the market for a WR. |

Re: Redskins Expected to Release Coles
SmootSmack - didn't Gibbs also say that during the regular season?
I think he got sick of running curl routes - and more than anything... Losing. |

I''m not trying to turn on Coles here because I think he's very talented and gives his all on the field. But it's kind of curious that he didn't place any of the blame on his injuries.
